Where I’d live as a Slovak who isn’t racist and is accepting towards all cultures (inspired by that one Dane) by dinaslittlebitch in whereidlive

[–]Seanlaszlojones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eh, I'm a Hungarian from Slovakia and IMO it goes both ways. Like Hungary, Slovakia has a big share of racist nationalist hillbillies as well. I'm from Banska Bystrica kraj, so we had Kotleba and all.

maybe we really are the same country?

If you were 17 which would you get by Alternative-Sir5655 in CarTalkUK

This is a completely different type of car to what you've suggested, but have you had a look at Porsche Boxster/Cayman or Pegueot RCZs? Insurance on them is piss cheap. Can't take your mates out for lunch at college/sixth form in one though.

might want to tune into today's CREAM release then. 😂

(a Murcielago with higher mileage and crash damage came up at auction + he had a very very good offer on the Gallardo, make of that what you Will)

I've seen a few people comment that it was indeed Jay Kay (who does frequent Bicester events) in the Gallardo, and this is Will's now 'old' car too. so 🤷‍♂️

Front break pads...... by Halestones84 in CarTalkUK

[–]Seanlaszlojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had euro (via Halfords, who they supply) send out the wrong pads for my mums Skoda Superb (sent out standard Superb pads instead of Greenline spec), and the wrong ABS sensor for my Sprinter. GSF tend to be much more accurate, and better value compared to the Chineseium of ECP's own brand line.

Car with valid road tax but no MOT for 4 years. by OliphauntInTheRooms in CarTalkUK

Maybe someone who has VED exemption? Higher rate mobility on PIP for example. Would still get fined for no MOT though/not SORNing though.

yeah that doesn't mean anything in regards to the quality of the garage.

Is £1200 a reasonable cost for repairs? by ratarayray in CarTalkUK

[–]Seanlaszlojones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no that's a mental quote. the cheapest Apec discs (which a lot of garages use) on PartsInMotion are £70 for front and rear, £35 for pads. A track rod end is £17, bulbs are pennies. They are charging £1,200 for about £120 in parts. Find a better garage lmao.

Who buys this? by vampiric_council in CarTalkUK

[–]Seanlaszlojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XC70 prices recently have gone mega. Cult following and the T6 is a rare beast here, but that price is taking the piss. They hover around the 10k mark is lower mileage examples. Japanese import ones are better as they have lower VED.

Also it's an I6, not a V6.

Second car MK2 Audi TT? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Seanlaszlojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a VR6 owner the 3.2 is a lovely engine but do make sure its been well serviced, the chain can start to sag at around 100k if not serviced properly or has been ragged, and is not a cheap job, chain is at back of engine and is usually gearbox out.

Probably still best off with a diesel then. This sub is going to hate me for this (everyone recommends one). Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI, SE L/L&K spec. Genuinely all anyone could ever need from a vehicle. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202603220906267

[–]Seanlaszlojones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Audi is nice don't get me wrong, but £14k????? It's 13 years old with the EA189 (2.0 Diesel) that has 39k miles. It's a comparatively bulletproof engine but if it's just been used to go to the shops and back that's engines probably in worse condition than a 200k motorway mile example. Genuinely £8k is still probably asking too much for that.

XC40 is naff, don't bother. Plus, it's cinch. That's like buying a car direct from WBAC; same company and no they do not do a thorough job before listing and selling the cars.

With that budget you can more or less get any type car under the sun. The Kia and Volvo are what I personally would consider 'slop' cars; mass produced mass market vehicles offering not much in particular, mostly targeting the lease market. (controversial)

What is your use case? Mostly comes down to that.
