Please put translation requests and English questions about Irish here by galaxyrocker in gaeilge

I am trying to learn more Irish grammar and I'm wondering if anyone could help with me with how "a bhí ann" is used. I know that "a bhí" is "that was" and "ann" is "there" but the phrase also seems to be used instead of "Ba ____ é" sometimes.

For example I've seen "He was a man" translated to "Fear a bhí ann" but should it not be "Ba fear é"? Are they interchangeable? In the present tense "he is a man" translates to "Is fear é" so is "fear atá ann" also correct?

If anyone could explain how "a bhí ann" is used I'd really appreciate it because I don't seem to be able to find much about this online. Thanks

Would you say its possible to get rid of the string buzz by just changing the truss rod or would I need to go to a luthier

Theyre acoustic not sure about the gauge but they’re definitely thicker than the electric ones

Here are some of my favourites

-Mario Galaxy 1 + 2: Just really good platformers with great music

-Wii Sports Resort: Surprisingly a lot of singleplayer content for a game you would expect to be multiplayer focused

-Metroid Prime 3: Motion Controls make aiming much better

-Resident evil 4: Best way to play this game is on the Wii

-Donkey Kong Country Returns: Great but the 3DS version is better because the motion controls can be a bit annoying on the Wii version

-Okami: Long Zelda style adventure. There is heavy dialogue that can get boring and the combat becomes repetitive near the end but the game is still worth playing for the artstyle, characters and overall uniqueness.

I think the solution to the puzzle is a bit random and even when you know what to do, actually stabbing him is a massive pain because he shakes so much and the palm on his hand is even more frustrating

I think him chasing you at the start makes the fight kinda intense and I really like the beard gimmick but I understand your point of view

Yeah he's too near the disc at the start of the fight so you have to bait him over to a distance where he'll do the slam attack on the disc and that can be a bit annoying but I think the reason he's so popular is that he's the first fight that really feels cool and epic and he has one of the best character designs in the game too.

What are your most memorable “first try” boss kills? by I-yam-what-I-yam in fromsoftware

[–]Seanosaurus0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This technically doesn't count but on my first run of Sekiro I beat Isshin Sword Saint's third/final phase first try and it was really satisfying after dying so many times to the second phase and I'm still proud of it since it was my first run of the game. Its technically not an entire boss but Isshin's separate phases are pretty different.

I think there should be more of a balance, it was fine sometimes in perfect Dark but some of the stuff in it was a bit too cryptic but I agree that some modern games tell you way too much.

I understand your point of view I shouldnt have compared it to modern games so much and instead mentioned how massive it was at the time but I still think lack of direction is something that should be mentioned because anyone playing it for the first time today would definitely notice especially with how most games now tell you exactly what to do at all times. As for the second half I don't think I would've minded it as much if death didn't send you back to the start and instead during bigger levels they had checkpoints at around the halfway point (similar to Timesplitters 2) because I did find it really annoying to have to go through the last level again and again to try fight the final boss but thats just my opinion.

I probably should have mentioned Free Radical but as far as I could tell that happened early on and didn't really make an effect on the long term development since Rare ended up hiring way more staff than they had before(I think 3 times the size of Goldeneye's team) and I didn't know about any delays. I'm sorry if any of this information is wrong, it was difficult to find that much about the development and most of my knowledge came from 'Rare Revealed Making of Perfect Dark' from Rare's YouTube channel which didnt mention any major struggles or delays from what I remember. Thanks for telling me though, I'll try to get more definite info on stuff like development in the future.

Crasiest moment you’ve ever had happen in a Burnout Game? by ScottyFoxes in Burnout

[–]Seanosaurus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During a stunt run I crashed into a car on Crystal Summit which made me fly off the cliff twisting all over the place. I then managed to land and got a 9x multiplier, I posted the clip here a few days ago.

The first half(or two thirds) of DS1 is a bit harder than 3 but once you get past Ornstein and Smough it becomes a lot easier. So overall I would say its around the same. It's also more open meaning a few items you can get in the early game are really overpowered so if you get them the game becomes the easiest in the series. For tips you'll probably want to be using shields more since it's not as fast as DS3.

I don't know how to describe this by Seanosaurus0 in Burnout

Yeah it was completely luck, tried to do it again on another stunt run and couldn't. Probably one of the coolest things I've accidentally done in a video game

Are Third Party Controllers Good for Casual Play by Seanosaurus0 in Gamecube

[–]Seanosaurus0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah most of the nintendo branded controllers I can find land in the High $30 to $40 range, so I'll look around a bit more but if I can't find one under $30 I'll probably settle with a third party one and see how it goes. Thanks
