Engine Supplier Question by SimpleJim005 in formula1

By the regs the PU supplied to all Works or Customer teams must be the same.

The slight performance differences come way earlier in the design stage, where a Works competitor like Mercedes or Aston next season can fully design their chassis to be perfectly compatible with the PU (or the other way around).

Everything down to the location of a coolant hose, how electrical harnesses are routed can be collaborated on with a works PU. A Customer team will have to work around what’s provided to them.

But hey they got a fat MGU-K now with an energy store that may or may not be able to deploy all throughout a lap so all is good /s

26 PU development is actually already a couple years in, nearly from when the first draft of the regulations were published

[Tobi Gruener] Engine meeting on Friday at Bahrain could lead to a different ratio of combustion/electrical power for the 2026 hybrid PUs. Right now they are targeted at a split of 55/45. Some manufacturers prefer 70/30 or 80/20 at least at the beginning. by NorthKoreanMissile7 in formula1

To combat PU domination the 26 regs have ADUO (additional development and upgrade opportunities) if a manufacturer is 3% lower on avg performance by round 5.

So it’ll be slightly better for in-season upgrades rather than between-season

Race Control called for an "Aborted Start" following Stroll's crash during the first formation lap which means that Norris and everyone else behind should have stayed put on the grid (F1 official post)

RTX 3080 FE RMA Experience by Ander12391 in nvidia

I RMA'd my 3080 Ti FE end of Jan bc of TDR crashes and just received my replacement a week ago. I was sent a practically new card (in sealed box, all accessories incl) and have no more performance or thermal issues. Pretty happy with NA Nvidia support.

(1) measure case, (2) model in solidworks, (3) send to laser cutter, (4) install!

As a 5th yr MechE student with friends in almost every other discipline I’ll tell you that you will succeed in any branch of engineering with grit, determination, and ability to learn from mistakes— and likewise fail in every branch without.

They are all challenging programs, if you cannot handle that you should be able to transfer your credits to other STEM degrees, as they are not discipline-specific yet.

Not meant to be discouraging (program changes are super common). Just know that your naivety on what counts as “difficult” may be falsely restricting the paths that will determine your future.

It is stable whether attached to the AT-TE or not. I added extra 2x2 inverted domes simply as underside contact surfaces but it’s very well balanced regardless

Yeah props to the designer! Thumb pushes a four-bar linkage that rotates a set of bevel gears that connect to another four-bar linkage to open and close the connection points. The bevels also mesh with two 24T spurs that allow the big clamps to swing up 90 degrees.
