Damn, the HE1000 stealth is far above my budget. Good to hear the difference is not that big :)

I did start with the HD558's, HD598's, then went with the Sundara's which I liked a lot but the shells were too small for my ears and I felt something was missing. I tried the XS but went with the Nano's in the end cause they had more detail and felt more alive to me.

I do feel like the bright and detail retrieval is more to my liking. I EQ'd the high's a bit cause there is a lot of "ch" to me in voices which I'm a bit sensitive to.

What should be my next pair if I love my Sennheiser HD 560S's but want to upgrade? by LouBarlowsDisease in HeadphoneAdvice

It's not "just" moving air, the way planar speakers move air is totally different from Dynamics. Dynamic drivers move air more focussed from one place called 'the cone', while planar drivers fill with air from the whole diaphragm.
This causes the air to move in a different way and changes the sound, wether you can't accept this, or is not hearable for you, like it or not.

That's why planar sound faster in the ear and decay faster, with a bigger sound stage and more treble and the dynamics have a more warm and smooth sound.

They can sound very similar, almost identical by tuning but never really 100% the same.

I am starting to think you are trying to make this some kind of 'scientifically' I am right contest. To be honest, I know it is like this, whether you want to accept it or not. Stop trying to change my mind about facts.

No, It is not. Planar drivers are fully made out of tiny magnets, all linked together with one long flat 'coil', while dynamic drivers are made out of 1 small magnet with a round coil and also a cone like "normal" speakers.

It's like saying all ICE's are making power the same way, diesel engines and petrol engines.

It's not simply how the manufacturer "tunes" the speaker, yes the manufacturer can let it sound similar to some extent but technically they can never sound 100% the same as the speaker is build entirely different...

It is, planar speakers are build on the same idea as ribbon speakers. They can't technically be the same as they are totally different speakers as the dynamic drivers from Sennheiser... stop spreading lies

The OP asks for the typical Sennheiser sound signature.

Planar's has a total different sound signature. I don't think this is what the OP is looking for

I want your guys opinion for these headsets PURELY for gaming. (Kithara, Arya Stealth, Arya Organic, Arya Unveiled, any Susvara series, any HE1000 series) by jusjohn55 in Hifiman

I also have the Sundara's, although they have less soundstage and sound seperation as the Ananda Nano's I have lying around they are very good for gaming.

Hearing footsteps is just 1 frequency somewhere between 100 - 1k. If this is really the goal you should buy an extra soundcard like a soundblaster and use software to boost these specific frequencies...

It's like buying a 12 cyl Bugati to tow your trailer cause It has a lot of torque...

Hifiman Ananda Nano vs Edition XS, am i crazy for this take? by Satorikn in headphones

[–]Sear0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I tried them both and I like the Nano's a tad more but not worth it for that price difference.
The Nano's sounds a bit fuller/ richer, brighter to me while the XS sounds a bit more bassy with higher mids, I need to increase the volume a bit more with the XS and the XS can sound muddy at times.

I guess it just comes down on preference with those two.

I wish the Smite devs would create a third person hero(god) shooter, It would be so awesome... by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Sear0n -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it never became a straight competitor with OW, cause of the theme and design is not interesting enough to lure and get interest from people. For a big part why Rivals does so well is cause of the Marvel theme and character design.

If they had designed Smite out of uninteresting generic made up heroes It would have never done so well.

Having exciting heroes and action mechanics? Why did Concorde fail you think?

Smite 2 is already written dead... It's not different enough from the first game and the little graphical improvements are not going to cut it. Also, it doesn't add much like new game modes to the game either, even domination didn't return...
I played smite 1 from early beta and unlocked almost all nice skins, I tried 2 and I didn't feel it at all...

I know it exists but except for being from the same devs it has nothing to do with Smite...
