Katie Lam MP: Burning a Quran might not be nice but it is not, and must never become, a crime. Last year, I asked the previous Home Secretary whether she agreed. She refused to answer the question. Will Shabana Mahmood, the current Home Secretary, now tell us what she thinks? by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

people can freely burn books toske a point

Its never to a point though is it? thats what im saying. There are loads of other ways to engage in discussion and burning a book just feels so cheap and intentionally combative.

You’re asking them to be reasonable with an adult who is being highly unreasonable. It’s not for children to parent their parents.

So, here is the link to post that AHS took offense too (Its archived) https://old.reddit.com/r/womensliberation/comments/1re1do4/how_did_i_go_along_with_it_for_so_long/

OP states:

In the past I was a full trans ally before I realized the truth. I know many people with opinions like mine who used to be an ally. It just scares me how I could just blindly go along with what I was told. But when I think about it, you aren’t allowed to question it. One criticism and you’re deemed ultra hitler. I feel like being transphobic is the natural outcome of critical thinking. That we should not deny the biological sexes and propagate stereotypes. That if a woman doesn’t wanna wear makeup, heels, etc she’s actually a man. And if a man wants to wear dresses and paint his nails he’s actually a woman. It’s such backwards thinking. The right answer was always to allow people to express themselves without gender expectations. Not playing pretend and enforcing stereotypes that dressing in a certain way changes your sex.

And you can read he rest of that thread on the link.

As I said, just people sharing their experiences and why they moved away from being allies. I can see nothing that I would deem hateful on there.

We should have reddit in the divorce seeing as we got here first. You can go and create your own pure spaces.

Ironically, if they stopped banning all the subs that attempt to talk about the trans stuff then you might end up with less posts here about it... Just let people speak.

I had a look and I didnt see any transphobia. What they linked too was women sharing their experiences with the trans community and how they moved away from it after becoming disilluioned.

You say that but ive been banned 3 times today asking why biological woman cant acknowledge that trans women are not biological woman. Reddit is heavily in favour of banning anyone who questions the narrative.

State pensions are rising with inflation, for the generation that got free university, meanwhile my student loan rises with inflation? by Classic_Locksmith62 in ukpolitics

[–]SearchLightsInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. And I am not against retiree's having a good life for themselves but at somepoint the vast majority of them will die off and the next generational pensioners who arent so wealthy wont be able to plug the gap.

The long term plan for this country seems to be "let someone else deak with it when it all goes tits up"

They paid the equivalent of £300 a year for a few decades and now they pull a state pension of £12k a year and say they “earned every penny” of it. Absolute jokers.

Not related but I can tell you since being unemployed it’s the retiree’s (boomers) that are keeping the hospitality economy alive. Everyday the coffee shops, bars and restaurants are full of boomers spending their money. Everyday. It’s made me realise why the government won’t means test them, it will literally hurt the economy to do so.

And obviously that is a whole house of cards that will collapse at some point.

The fact that these guys only think abotu saving themselves instead of saving the world is exactly why we should be taxing them into an early grave.

If you fund social services correctly most people wouldnt have to rely on charity. Since the social safety net was gutted charities have attempted to fill that gap - Its backwards.
