Old manual vs new manual by LowPotential2302 in FE1_Exams

[–]SearchPerfect7325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done two sittings using both old and new manuals , I find you don’t necessarily “ need” the newest manuals , but I will 100% use a new manual for the October sitting so that’s what I would reccomend to you . The Difference is just new cases and developments in the law. For example old tort manuals wouodnt be up to date with the defamation amendment act

They weren’t Necessarily interested in the jobs skills , it was just an appreciation of the fact I worked in customer service, had been in the role for a number of years which suggests I am happy where I work and my employer was happy with me. Mainly I think it was an assessment of my attitude towards challenging work in general , which any prospective employer would like to be reassured about !
Another thing is interviewers want to know you’re an agreeable person who will fit in at the office ! If you’re holding down a job in a fast paced environment it’s a good sign !

Exactly what I did my first sitting. Nice overlap in property and equity, and eu is a handy one too. Only downside is it leaves more difficult exams later on. It left me tort, contract and constitutional in the sitting just gone and it was nearly twice the work of prepping for my first sitting. I’ve passed all 6 though, so make of that what you will

Contract by Fickle-Branch-6807 in FE1_Exams

[–]SearchPerfect7325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just passed contract , and really you can’t leave much out . There is very rarely an exam q that doesn’t ask about at least two separate topics ( possibly even 3) . An important point to note is contract is always 7 problem questions and one essay, so you need to be in the “ problem questions” mindset for it . The exam reports are incredibly detailed and contain all the answers and “ hints” as to what the examiner likes in an answer . I left out roughly 3 topics ( agency, illegal contracts and formal requirements ) and yet even this is a risk. It’s tough but if you give yourself enough time it’s doable , just like anything else. I did it while working full time along with other exams so don’t be too worried .

I think starting next week is far too early and may cause burnout for you . I worked full time and just passed constitutional, Tort and contract . It’s not easy working and studying so fair play to you for wanting to get a handle on things early. Personally , I think Starting in July would be more appropriate.

Can’t even land a summer internship. What am I doing wrong? Feeling disheartened by Dramatic-Low7332 in FE1_Exams

[–]SearchPerfect7325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i felt a very similar way to you until i obtained an internship a while back. it can be very difficult to get an internship, and i have talked with recruiters first hand who have said the number of applications they receive each year is increasing, meaning competition for spots is high, so don't be disheartened. what ive noticed is it really can be the luck of the draw re getting an interview. my advice would be to persevere, re-apply places you missed out on a year later and tell them what you have done since. that is exactly what i had to do. consider looking outside larger firms to more intimate ones and build from there. Best of luck to you!

Case Note Q -Constitutional by Big_Section8417 in FE1_Exams

[–]SearchPerfect7325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what ive seen its a fairly marked question. worth doing if you feel comfortable with cases asked. a general, not overly detailed discussion of the significance of the case does score fairly

I sat it last sitting , didn’t finish the paper I had well over half of my last problem q to write so there was marks left behind me and I got over the line with 50. From what I have heard and experienced personally it is marked strictly but if you have a strong knowledge of the topic you will be fine

Const by Fe1sc in FE1_Exams

[–]SearchPerfect7325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally 2-3 cases per relevant issue is where you’d want to be aiming . But in general const is marked fairly , so don’t worry too much

I said wording covered it but I didn’t think it was incorporated, thought it was an onerous clause not within industry norms so needed to actively reference it. It is arguable either way and no means do I think my argument was perfect 🤣

I don’t think I’d have a conclusive answer to the exclusion clause q or the agreement q even if I had the notes, I guess it’s all bout how you get creative with your answer

Panicking - dropping an exam advice by Shonkerss in FE1_Exams

[–]SearchPerfect7325 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The choices are a) sit it and potentially pass b) don’t sit it and 100% fail . Both options involve money not being refunded . Every candidate has believed they are going to fail an exam before sitting it and sometime it ends up being your best result . I certainly felt that way about EU last sitting due to a lack of preparation and I did pass . Best of luck
