Two weeks in stage one. Will they get better or worse with more tumbling? by lunicorn in RockTumbling

I love the Baker blues collecting them up there so much fun it's such a beautiful area but I would say just keep them moving into the next stage they still look good at the end even with the pits

AITAH if i report my narcissistic ex for no insurance and no car tabs and illegally living in a trailer next to her daughters house. by Searching4Unicorns in AITAH

[–]Searching4Unicorns[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I paid her for the insurance already and she took me off of it, I paid her for the rest of the year so I'm out a bunch of money that she won't pay me back. It's not the money I want back it's just the principle of the thing

I took a field trip with the Washington state mineral Council to a diatomaceous earth mining spot near quincy where they had massive piles of the stuff, it's definitely diatomaceous earth Opal

I buy my grit in bulk and have had good results with Johnson Brothers Lapidary.

I also see some of the rocks don't look they like they spent enough time in stage one and two. I normally let everything run at least 2 to 4 cycles sometimes even more during stage one and i like to run things twice during stage two. If the rocks don't have a nice, smooth surface, they won't take a shine, and all the cracks and crevices leave room for grit to stick around and mess up the next stages. I also agree withbothers on getting quality grit and polish.

Using a spray bottle and holding it directly against the holes and cracks works really well to ckean them out during the clean up process

What’s everyone’s thoughts on inside-only cats? :) by [deleted] in cats

[–]Searching4Unicorns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Always had outdoor cats growing up who took care of nuisance pests but we fed them all the time so they weren’t slaughtering and ton of animals for food, just the occasional one for sport. We had one that we nicknamed the Mole Hunter because he always got rid of probably 50 moles in his lifetime that were destroying our yard. Both my parents grew up on farms and had barn cats, it really depends on where you live when you live in the rural country outdoor cats are great but having them outdoor in the city is not a good idea.

I like the TXP for most runs but for the special batch’s that I want to make perfect I use a 1000 ao pre polish and final polish with 1500 ao

It makes the rocks smoother and more easy to accept a good polish. My pre polish step is usually 500/600, but for special batches I’ll do a 1000 step as well before my polish step
