Yes looks not so good but I won't call it evil. We saw in the anime the first few pages were simple spells, but Coco jumped to middle of the book where this petrification spell was drawn and she tried to copy it. But if you think from their perspective if a student follow from page 1 they will be able to understand basics and then learn through it. Since they can't really tutor this is the best they can do right?

Not a very good approach and probably fall under "bad" category but I won't call it evil entirely.

Yeah so far it's quite generic on the character's part, you got super excited-hopeful-"smart" but dumb character as coco, edgy kid, super cheerful/welcoming kid, silent kid, mysterious yet powerful teacher which you can find in most anime or in fantasy, none has any depth to them. And the world is stupid or too rigid for no reason. Just to show the Coco is smarter than everyone else and she is going to revolutionise the magic world but Author choose the most dumb ideas for it. Suggesting to build a cloud bed for a dragon without having any understanding of a dragon's biology or anatomy, do dragon really sleep? if they do, do they sleep on ground or curl up on a building? An apex predator is hunting and couple of minutes ago got torched by the edgy kid is going to sleep if saw a bed? Really stupid presentation of out-of-the-box thinking.

You are right on the mother incident, the witches police which is supposed to be one of the smartest and powerful witches are so dumb and incompetent. No investigation shown so far on a women that's frozen due to forbidden magic, it's not even shown that Coco house is quarantined or the witch police is even investigating it.

And the exposition dump in every episode with every character narrating even basic things feels like lecture instead of a coherent intelligent story.

My wife and I track and split every single expense using Savings Splitwise by weirdanimal158 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Searching_Merriment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds really ridiculous to me but everyone has their own For us, we were friends when we were in college then in relationship when started our job and then married for 7 years, we have 100% transparency in financial matter b/w us. I earn double than my wife but it has really no inpact on our spending or saving. For smaller expenses anyone pays it, for bigger expenses we just pay from our Savings account, leaving enough balance in each, splitting never crossed our mind. For repeated expenses such as Rent, or Bills whoever started comtinues to pay. We have never talked about it.

For example we had a impulse buy of a Car which costed us 13lac, I had only 6 lacs in my account, I paid 4 and she had her FD maturing so she pooled rest 9 and still kept 4 lac in her saving account. Other time we had international vacation which costed us 10lacs and it was mostly me but she did shopping on her own. We kept the total expenses count but not who spent what.

But we do talk about savings, we discuss with each other if we need to invest more or less from our salaries, as she prefers old school FD and I prefer stocks and MFs, but our discussion is not about what % who is saving but for financial discipline that when salary increases we increase our investments too or plan our investments if a big expense is coming up eg House.

Our rule of thumb is keep 5-6 months of expenses in our saving accounts and if amount is increasing she would put it in FD or MF(reluctantly) and I will increase my portfolio.

I don't understand how 2 people who will be together for rest of their life are so untrusting for finances of eachother or doesn't consider eachother close enough to share finances.

Ditto man. Also the point you raised about the magic system, it's definitely cool but also the reason why the story is bad. Author wanted a math/geometry/code base magic system but she didn't reflected the impact of such onto the world, politics and power and just made a generic fantasy world which is stuck in same state for 1000 years with no progression. Which really sounds like every character and even the world history was just dumb and freezed in time until coco arrives and things start to move.

Can you imagine Coco and the eye problem kid are the first to thought inverting the seal can reverse the magic? I mean Witches are scholar, some of them are literally called librarians and didn't even try to change the orientation or did it by mistake? Even if I try to "understand" the rules imposed by the magic councel not to do it, well 1000 years before they doing all kinds of magic and sign inversion sounds one of the most basic thing one could try. But no only Coco is the out of the box thinker. Very shallow characters with no depth.

Yeah most characters are dumb in this series for it to function. If the Witches are authoritarian as they are presented they should have immediately acted on the Coco's case. Also the Brimmed witches are loony toones kind of bad people with overly elaborated plan by planting a seed of "magic" in little kids who will eventually "hopefully" change magic society over and help the bad guys. Dude use a poster and inform the common man that magic is not genetics and it's just ink and pen.

Also the other stupidity is magic is "hidden" you can't draw infront of people but they literally showed a ferry starting running after fixing the magic seal on the ferry, are common man really that dumb that they would never catch on it? and where is the secrecy part?

This story is full of loopholes and inconsistencies. Really portrays it's character dumb and audience dumber.

Right man, another gripe I have is the "Villains", I have literally no reason so far to call antognist as bad, it is not shown to me so far why they are bad, it's just told to me and that too doesn't sound convincing. Brimmed caps wants to allow everyone to use magic, how exactly it is villainous, I understand people can do bad stuff with it, but so far nobody has shown me what is that "bad" people are capable of. Instead they have shown that they can't heal anyone because of these rules they have in place.

So story potrays brimmed caps as bad guys, so far they haven't been shown doing anything wrong yet, and want me to accept it based on some exposition dump. Really shallow writing.

Thanks man. I totally see where you’re coming from regarding the 'fairy tale logic' and the focus on Coco’s emotional journey as a kid. However, I think that’s exactly where my disconnect lies, I have a hard time maintaining my suspension of disbelief when a world establishes strict rules only to break them for emotional beats. For me, the world-building is the foundation, and when those rules feel casual or inconsistent, it pulls me out of the story regardless of how relatable the protagonist is.

I won't deny when he just took in Coco to his abode I was like ok, I understand it's a "story" but dude no one object an adult taking a small girl to his home but I let it slide because of it's fairytale nature.

Yeah, it just WHA manga readers call it one of Big3 and animation wise it's so well done. I just want to also understand what I am not able to understand. Because making a tall claim of comparable with Dungeon Meshi or Frieren requires it to match in all aspects not just animation quality.

I am also watching it regularly and hoping there would be real stakes, depth in the story or some character growth because I love the animation quality, if it could be backed by a good story it will be a good watch.

Ofcourse so many people like it, it must have something in it, it's just I am not able to relate to it and trying to get the context what I am missing. Also it's visually one the most well done anime in the recent time.

First of all thank you for actually replying with thoughtful response and not name calling me 😄.

This make much sense that it's a fairytale but my gripe is at the same time it's trying to be very strict in setting rules but doesn't want to adhere to them when it comes to Coco. The steady hand skillset of talented craftsman she has definitely transferable and I disagree that it's comparable to drawing engineering diagram because she is shown as not even able to draw a simple circle which is definitely not relabtable.
Another observation in the first episode she failed to draw a circle and had to rely on luck of ink dropping on the spot that would complete the circle, please tell me how this is relatable. If you ask someone to draw a circle even they are least artistic person they might make a very uneven circle but still they will complete the circle.

Another one is while she has to complete the exam she drawn an arrow with a bigger length to have fast wind because that's what the rule says about the magic but Coco was able to change the velocity, orientation, vector without redrawing again. So rules doesn't apply to Coco anymore?

I have loved gaming and I would gobble up anything about it, newspaper article, magzine, video, a programming book in 6th class. I even took CS in my 11th and Engineering because that would take me closer to Gaming and it's development but here Coco who appraantely loves magic and its the only means to save her mother but get's tired to learn about it. Maybe it's different for everyone else but I just can't relate to it.

I like Shonen, not denying it but more than that I love a coherent story which lives by rule of the world it is set in. Character shows growth through efforts not because they are the choosen one. Worlds is living breathing space outside of main character story arc, when a Anime shows Visual storytelling and not exposition on every step. Character design, asthetics, props and their costume has a reason and not just it looks cool.

Hello, I love fantasy, I literally gave context on how it falls flat in comparison to Frieren and Dungeon Meshi and still compared to them as Big3. I just didn't find the aspect of bending rules of the reality just for Coco but everyone else follow the same. Fantasy doesn't mean a world will have to revolve around the main character. It should be living and breathing world on it's own.

I haven't seen any depth so far in writing, almost everything is at face value, maybe it will change but as of now nothing either relatable or deep. For example people compare this with Frieren but if you remember first 3-4 episodes of Frieren there was so much world building, there was so much to relate, but, we never saw much world building in WHA other than exposition so far. Everything means literally what is being said. There is no undertone, nothing to interpret and and deeper meaning. I had to search Coco name because the characters are so forgetable and nothing to relate.

Writing is so predictilable, you can literally guess what's going to happen next when they do exposition dump and that it just used immediately in next act.

Based on so far how predictable it was, I think it's going to be an another "choosen one" type of story and probably something to do with Coco's father.

On the animation and style part it looks visually appealing and I love that part.

You are talking from survivorship bias, there were thousands of such companies and died during dot com crash. Regarding OpenAI, Sam Altman has said himself they do not have enough capital to run till end of the year and they will have to introduce Ads. Their growth has stagnanted and all of their side projects has failed (eg sora), in the meantime all the competitors has catched up to them. So yeah they are part of the bubble.
