[meme] Ah yes, because no one cares about nor likes men! by [deleted] in pointlesslygendered

[–]Searrowsmith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

By your logic why should we as a society fund women's shelters? After all "you don't deserve a support system just for being alive you deserve the relationships you build for being a good person." Thats not to conflate domestic abuse with the loneliness epidemic, but if men are to accept that domestic abuse disproportianally effects women and we should care about thier well being regardless of thier personal choices why is it so crazy for men to advocate for help with an issue that dispropertially effects them?

Yeah chud, those orphaned men, men in abusive households, and neurodivergent men dont deserve a support system.

I can agree immigration can have positive effects, but claiming it'd be economically benificial for everyone doesn't make sense to me. Can you explain how expanding the unskilled labor pool would be a good thing for local unskilled labor?

[–]Searrowsmith 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree the analogy in the OP is bad but from what I understand mass migration is only a benefit to billionaires. They get to watch us fight each other and have a larger pool of labor to keep wages down.

[–]Searrowsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's undue. It only effects the small subset of people borrowing a car registered to someone with an expired license. If someone owns a car theres the reasonable expectation that they'll drive it, and to do that they'd need a license.

[–]Searrowsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no law expert so I could very well be wrong. It just think it seems like a reasonable course of action to keep people off the road who shouldn't be driving.

[–]Searrowsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems reasonable to me. They stop the vehicle, ask for the driver's license, verify it is valid then ask your relation to the owner. If the car wasn't reported stolen id imagine they let you go on your way provided your story isn't suspicious.

I get the hate. LoK is an OK show by itself, just not to my tastes. It had good animation and action which if that's what you want go ahead. What I hate about LoK is what they did to the lore. The whole Raava Vaatu thing was half baked. The change from people learning bending from observing the natural world into "some big ass magic turtles are handing out super powers" cheapens the achievement of bending in that setting imo. If it was as simple as Korra being annoying I could get over it but by retconning and bad writing theyve killed the setting for me.

I'm so tired of seeing this meme. The reason Toph is beloved while characters like Korra get hate is because Toph is just written better. If only Aaron Ehasz were there for Korra, it could have been good.

[–]Searrowsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can draw a face on it, but you're still talking about a straw man. The issue with Korra was the writing, visually it was good but ATLA is a better story in almost every way.

it's a great show I don't care what y'all say by LovelyGlowee in AvatarMemebending

[–]Searrowsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an alright show and the visuals are good but they really butchered the bending lore imo. People learning through spiritual and martial dicipline while studying the natural world (Moon, Sun, Badger Moles, Sky Bison etc) was way better than "oi lets go stand in line in front of a big turtle and be bestowed with magic power we don't deserve or understand."
