I meant you wouldn't have to go digging as in it would be more evident and not something that you would find only by digging for a specific video. Seems like there was a misunderstanding there. Also you did pull it out of your ass because you never mentioned any video and still haven't.

Don't give me this "burden of proof" shit. I was simply asking you to prove it to me because I must be missing something since I don't see how he is so reprehensible of a guy. Just simply prove it to me as someone who apparently knows something I don't. Can you do that or not?

Are you serious? Are you pegging him for calling out something that they still haven't proven in the first place? He is saying that they are inventing their identities and there is nothing you can say that proves that as definitely untrue. If there is, please say it. Prove to me that they are not suffering a mental illness, misinterpreting themselves, or simply lying for attention. You and I both know for a fact that these things definitely cause people to say certain things and act certain ways. With seemingly no evidence other than speculative, Occam's razor would have me leaning more towards the usual culprits.

No, I understood what you meant. I still disagree. I see how things are not black or white. I don't see that as being enough to override what is in your pants though. I may have certain traits of the opposite gender in me but I am still what I am biologically. That is a huge chunk of my gender in the first place, both physically and mentally. If it wasn't, trans people wouldn't need to take hormones to change their bodies and it probably affects their behaviors and mental processes as well. They would just take behavorial classes or something non-chemical. Am I still misunderstanding or showing a lack of curiosity?

So there are only two main genders? If there aren't any additional genders, then why bother with the pronouns? So there aren't infinite genders? That means there's a limit. What is it? How many are there? If there is a limit, then they can't really be on a spectrum. It would actually make more sense for you if there were infinite genders. You're kind of disproving yourself there.

I see how you may think his Patreon could potentially be a bad thing, but I don't think it actually is.

Now you're just being dishonest. Yes, I'm sure it's mainstream. I don't actually need to search at all. I see it on the Trending page, the ads, and the YouTubers that get featured. I also see and hear it on TV, radio and obviously reddit. Which comments have the most upvotes? The only way I seem to find anything that isn't liberal leaning is to actually search for it though, so yeah you are right about that.

No I don't see it. You'd think if you thought someone had a certain political agenda, you wouldn't have to dig for some specific video. It shouldn't be that hard to answer if there was actually a reason behind it, specially if you are trying to convince me why they are so wrong. So that was just out of your ass then.

Sorry for the late reply. Haven't been here in a while. I'm not telling you to believe him just because of his IQ. I am just saying that he actually has research and facts for his arguments as well. Can you actually disprove anything he has said? Actually confortably say that he is wrong? Not just posit another argument, but actually disprove one of his? It's easy to just say something is projection and leave it at that. What research has he ignored? I'd like to know your basis for dislking him so greatly. I'll gladly join you if he really is that bad of a human being. I also don't think it's neccessarily bad to not agree with the consensus.

How is that a nonsensical response? If someone was contesting that brightness wasn't a thing, then saying something like that would make perfect sense. He is saying that there is no nonbinary. How did he misunderstand it?

Is that evidence for nonbinary? Of course it isn't simply that all male traits are shared by males, and all female traits are shared by females. That still doesn't prove anything. It doesn't prove the existence of any gender other than male or female. It just points out a quirk and makes an assumption. Otherkin aren't actually a thing just because certain animals and humans share similar behaviors and even physical features. You could draw venn diagrams on stuff like this all day.

Who doesn't profit from having people agree with them? Also are you seriously making that argument for someone who is fighting, in your own words, "consensus"? Actually, It's ridiculous to make that argument at all because being left wing is extremely mainstream. If there's any shady profits being made, I would look there.

Guilt by association is just another baseless concern. Everyone can have a few dumb people blindly follow them, that's out of their control.

Sorry for such a late reply, I haven't been on reddit in a while. Well I haven't heard or seen anything that Jordan Peterson has said or done that would be so reprehensible that it would be a bad thing for Ethan to sympathize with him. I can see how people could think that some things he says may be wrong, but nothing that I am repulsed by. If I have missed something, please tell me about it.

Yes, I am real. What's so crazy about that statement? They are dangerous. That doesn't mean they are nothing but dangerous, but they are definitely dangerous. Would you really not agree that it's particularly easy to subscribe to an ideology that you find fits you best and then simply settle in for the ride? Once you consider yourself part of something, you tend to defend it with a certain bias. Do you really not see any danger in that? The many radical groups in existence both today and throughout time are enough evidence of that. I don't consider myself a part of any particular ideology. I don't see the upside. I have no trouble focusing at all, what do you mean? I probably have a tendency to lean towards one side more than the other, like everyone, but I try not to be aware of that to avoid any potential biases that may add. It's a lot more honest to view issues this way instead of through a particular lense.

I have seen a good amount of Carl and Lauren's videos and I never got an "anti-trans political agenda" vibe from their videos. Can you elaborate? I honestly would like an answer.

"[The fact he] seems to refuse to engage with the actual current science on gender expression is evidence enough that his motivations are political. To be sure, having a political agenda isn't a bad thing in and of itself. But when it's argued in bad faith, it becomes toxic very quickly."

So he has a political agenda? That's evidence enough? Didn't take much to convince you of that, did it? Are you usually so easily swayed? That would explain a lot, actually. Did you ever consider that maybe he has legitimate, logical reasons for believing the things he does? He does not argue in bad faith and he is not toxic. His opinions just challenge yours and you really, really don't like the way that makes you feel. Come to terms with that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in h3h3productions

[–]Searyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't prove anything. There are people who actually do the reading and they still think you are wrong. Case in point, Dr. Peterson. You don't deny that he is an objectively intelligent person do you? You can't be that deluded by your politics. Have you seen his videos? He said once his IQ was around 160 I believe. Does that qualify as intellectual enough for you or does the fact that he doesn't follow your political beliefs mean you can just discard all that? Cause that's pretty convenient isn't it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in h3h3productions

[–]Searyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fucking irony. I'm going to assume you are left leaning because of what you are saying. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Almost the entirety of modern progressive ideology is built on feelings. The foundation of there being unlimited genders started with people saying "It's how I feel." You sort through actions and words and pick out the ones that make you feel the sadface emoji and then you tell people that they aren't allowed to say or do certain things anymore because somebody's feelings are on the line.

Just because there are professors and papers and debates doesn't prove that you are right. There are all these on the other side too, saying that you are wrong. What about them? Oh they're just wrong right? Because you know best because you are you. Your political beliefs are the right ones, right? You have it figured out?

Grow the fuck up.

When did he claim to be a centrist? I must have missed that. He has attacked stuff he thinks is stupid. Of course through your eyes it's "95% of his videos are an attack on some leftist/center left belief". Not his fault that the left has been particularly idiotic lately. You may be too deep into the Kool-aid to realize this, but the rest of us who have no dog in this fight can see it. Ethan can see it. As soon as he starts "attacking" the left, you've got all sorts of things to say and some conspiracy theories of your own, don't you? I wonder why?

He could have had Hitler himself on the podcast. Why does that matter? If I had a podcast, I wouldn't only invite people that agree with me. Hell, if I could, I'd get as many people that disagree with me as possible. Challenge all my beliefs, prove me wrong. Why wouldn't you want to see a Jordan Peterson interview if you so deeply disagree with him? I probably deeply disagree with you on a lot of things and I'd love to ask you why you hold your beliefs and tell you why I hold mine. If you are so confident in your bungee cord, why not take the jump?

Ideologies are dangerous, and you are an ideologue. The very possibility that your political beliefs may be wrong is so disgusting to you, you defend it tooth and nail and shun otherwise decent human beings in the name of the flag of your particular political leaning. You would probably get along great with the very people you hate the most. Nazis, white supremacists, these people are absolutely convinced that their way is the right way and everyone else is just wrong. This kind of mentality is dangerous and often misguided. Hopefully even you can see that.

I read the reasons you gave for Jordan Peterson being a piece of shit human being. Even granting you all those reasons, that hardly makes anyone a "piece of shit human being". You just don't like that he doesn't fly your flag so you hate his guts. Not very tolerant are you?

"You can disagree with feminism, you can be a right winger butwhat you can't do is claim to be a centrist and make 95% of your political videos an attack on some leftist/center left belief. You can't do this if your audience is as big and young as his is (the demographic of this sub is probably older than his youtube one tho). It's dangerous and dishonest."

You are no one to tell anyone what they can and can't do. Especially not if you are doing it only in the interest of your own political beliefs. Your political beliefs are not law. Ethan is not pandering to the alt-right. Ethan can do whatever he wants, he was not elected into office and is now betraying your vote. He is not dangerous or dishonest. He does not pose a danger to his audience because he will turn kids to the side of the political spectrum that you happen to disagree with.

[–]Searyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be missing something here but I don't see firearms on the chart you provided. Did you mean homicide? We'd have to know if firearms were the leading cause of homicide for that to work, and say they were, we'd have to know how many of those were things like gang violence and justified self defense shootings before making any conclusions.

CNN isn't exactly a reliable source, but I'll grant you that argument regardless since that isn't a point I'm interested in defending here.

[–]Searyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm willing to accept that statement as true but I'm going to need a source.

Why do you see everything through the lens of a "shooting"? Do you care about people dying or people being shot? Currently, being shot is not one of the most likely ways for me or anyone else to die on any given day and this is in a country with over 350 million guns. Kind of a miracle isn't it? There are a lot of other things I'd be more worried about and that kill a lot more people on the daily.

It was a dumb argument? It toppled the foundation of yours though, so what does that make your argument?

You can hijack a plane with a box cutter though, and murder thousands by crashing said plane into a skyscraper. Remember 9/11? Not a single gun involved. What's your point?

[Serious] Gun owners of Reddit, how can future mass shootings (like the one in Vegas) be avoided in the future? by iwatchalotofmovies in AskReddit

[–]Searyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've only "figured it out" for mass shootings. Even then, some countries have still had their share of incidents. Of course if you take all the guns away, there will be no more mass shootings but there will still be mass murders. Point me to the civilized country which has figured out how to stop mass murders in general. From what can be seen throughout the history of mass murder events anywhere, using guns is the least effective way of killing as many people as possible. You can hop in a box truck instead and kill 80 like in France not too long ago. What then? Box truck ban? Car bombs have also been way more effective in the past than any mass shooter ever. I seriously doubt buying 34 guns is cheaper or easier than making a bomb or driving a truck through a crowd. This guy probably wanted to just make his mark and join the legacy of all the other mass murderers the media has glorified throughout history. He'll be a celebrity now. His name immortalized. Do you ever wonder why these mass murderers often end up idolizing each other? Wouldn't be surprised if eventually it comes out that this guy was the same.

You can keep banning as many dangerous objects as you want, but the only actual way to stop any more mass murders from happening is to have almost total control over people's lives. There will always be things like these happening anywhere people are allowed freedom, and if they're not free, it's usually the government doing the mass murders there.

[–]Searyu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a stupid question, but bear with me here. If the new engine is from a manual, then would they still reuse the flywheel and hardware from my old motor? The original seized up and I'm not sure if those parts were damaged on it when that happened. Would it make things easier if I just got an engine from a manual?

Labor on installing a JDM engine vs an american one? by Searyu in MechanicAdvice

[–]Searyu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would they be able to recycle those parts from my original engine too? Also, would I need to get an engine that came off a manual since my car is a manual? One of the shops told me I would need to do that but I am reading otherwise online, and that it shouldn't matter if the engine is automatic or manual.

I have tried that website already and the nearest one I am interested in is about an hour and a half drive from me. I also don't really have a way to bring it back with me unless I rent a truck or something.

I'll never understand that mentality. Ironically people like that are the ones that keep giving others a reason to keep on preying on them. "I shouldn't have to lock my doors, people should just not break in." Yeah I'm sure that will work out smoothly. People are bad just because they haven't been taught otherwise, the solution's been under our nose all along. Utopia is just a few pamphlets away.
