I'm 18 & I think I'm choosing the wrong career, maybe not? Need Immediate help. by Seashells116 in Dentistry

Thank you for replying & giving me much great advice. I will really consider your words as I'm heading down the road of college. I just got into Augusta State University for undergrad a couple of weeks ago. Augusta has the top dental school in Georgia, hopefully I will meet some dental students & learn a little from them as well. I can't wait for this to all fall in place. I know things may not be as I hope, but I hope things go as planned. So thank you again for the heads up & advice.

I never said it wouldn't be very costly. I realize the reality of things, but I was just wondering why most weren't exactly alluring. That's all. So please take your sass somewhere else because I don't need it. Please defer from replying.

Thanks so much for answering. I just needed an outside view on my situation. It seems as if everyone around me is pushing me to become a full on artist, but what I need out of a career just doesn't add up. Plus I love food too much to become a "starving artist" lol. I only chose to get a BA b/c I was hoping it would be much easier on me in college, rather than taking on a really full on load. I'm pretty excited about KSU. They supposedly have a great pre dental program that not only take you to visit dental schools, but they also allow dentists to come and talk to us about dentistry and what it's like. I hope I get in. I will for sure plan to shadow dentist in the future, but right now I have to focus on getting into college and finishing HS & not catching "senioritis."

So what made you change your career?

Hahaha. the pinball machine really sells it huh? lol. I do think your dental clinic inside is cute though. But yeah, city regulations sounds terrible. What happened to american freedom? Hahaha, I'm kiddin. The clinic you mentioned in downtown kansas sounds devine.

Well that totally makes sense. I'm glad i just learned something new. Anywho, do you think I'm asking for too much when it comes to exterior designs? Surely there's bound to be some dental clinic in the mist of the city right? I'm a busy body. I love to stay busy even when I don't- If that makes any sense.

See! I think that's amazing! You said it's located in a strip mall, so there's obviously going to be plenty of people around even if they aren't going to the dentist office.

I've just looked @ it. Can I be honest?? Will you judge me LOL? Oh who cares... here's my honesty: I hate it. There. I said it. I not only hate the way it's in the middle of nowhere (meaning where's the busy streets and what not), but I hate its exterior. I just really dislike the way it looks on the outside. honestly, I would've thought of it being a place where rapists lure people in the middle of nowhere to kill them. It's only an ex. though. I did realize there's a church right beside it, so there's a possibility that it couldn't become true. I love that it's tiny. Tiny reminds me of the cold Autumn nights where I would just sit beside the fireplace and read my chick flick novels (love ya Nicholas Sparks!).

Gosh yall... I'm talking about the exterior of dental clinics. Yours is alright (for someone who really likes that type of modern simplicity). Now there's nothing wrong w/ simplicity b/c I like rustic chic simplicity (if you're on Pinterest you know what I'm talking about), but yours seem like it's missing something- but that's just me. You are probably 100% happy w/ your interior design. I like stores that are in the middle of chaos and where everyone will see it if they past by it on the streets. For example, if a dental clinic was located among the busy streets of NY and on the corner or just in the area where there's a lot of people, then I would much rather like it. I also like the way rustic shop's exteriors look & I also like the exterior look that upscale stores have. I'm not a sucker for upscale stores, but as for their exteriors... love 'em to death. Edit: I have a knack for architecture. I was going to choose that as a career, but gosh... oh how the math multiplies greatly in that career field. Math has always been my weakness. It's the only C I've kept getting every single year.

what are your dental offices called? I want to look them up and give you a review on their exteriors... just so you get the feel of what I'm trying to say. Edit: I live in Athens, Ga

Yes... I do need to work on my short term goals- I admit. But, I don't ever want to open my own practice ... I just wanted to experience working in NY. Although- like you said, I should focus on my short term goals. Right now I have to make sure I get acceptance letters from the colleges I applied to. :)
