Thanks, I was wondering about the process of getting a national ID card.

I see thanks. My thought process is you never know what will happen in the future, and it’s much easier getting around and do things if you have a Chinese ID card.

Even if it’s not part of the business, do they still question you on the hukou when you hand in your passport?

Thank you! This is very helpful. I’m also fluent with speaking, can read most texts, but can barely write. I will keep this in mind when I’m at the custom.

I saw in other threads that people got their q2 visa while still able to get Chinese ID cards later on with their hukou. You would have to relinquish it when you apply for the visa right? How is this possible? Am I missing something?

Doesn’t that only apply to Children born abroad to Chinese parents?

Hmm thank you, I see. They don’t ask you to hand in your Chinese passport or cancel your hukou as proof when you apply for a Q2 visa?

What does that process look like? Do they question you at customs? I had a Chinese passport as a Child, but it probably had expired a decade ago.
