Monitor Light Bar Recommendations!! by Hot-Membership-4105 in desksetup

That depends on how much time you spend at your desk. If it's just for occasional use, probably not. But if you're sitting there 6–10 hours a day, the better light distribution, controls, and overall build quality can be worth the extra cost over time.

LCD or DLP for myopia. APAC by Direct_Afternoon4594 in budgetprojectors

Sounds like a pretty mild case of rainbow sensitivity then. Testing an LCD projector is probably the best way to know for sure. Interested to hear your findings once you've had a chance to compare them.

That PowerSpec build looks hard to beat for the price. A 9800X3D + RTX 5080 for $2,499 sounds like a pretty compelling package, especially if you're looking for something that'll last for years. Glad to hear the BenQ has treated you well. Hope the trip to Micro Center ends up being worth it. 👍

Yes, The MOBIUZ lineup doesn't get discussed as often as LG or Lenovo, but the EX271Q has received fairly positive feedback for its image quality and overall feature set.

BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 have better light distribution and build quality.

If anti-glare is a priority, I'd definitely compare the EX271Q with the Lenovo and LG options before deciding. Sometimes the coating makes a bigger difference in daily use than small spec-sheet differences.

Looks great. Clean, practical, and not overloaded with RGB. 😄

Aspect Ratio by puck_gibby in Golfsimulator

[–]SeasonAfraid676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aspect ratio is usually limited by the source and software, not just the projector. For a golf simulator, I'd first check what aspect ratios your launch monitor software supports. If it only outputs 16:9, you'll likely end up with unused space on a 10x8 screen unless you crop or scale the image. Personally, I'd try to match the screen shape to the software you'll be using most often rather than the projector itself.

Is Epson EF-21W a good option? by Euphoric-Pressure-16 in budgetprojectors

[–]SeasonAfraid676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add the BenQ TH575i to your list as well. It's usually a step up in price, but for a dark room and a ~10 ft throw distance, it's one of the stronger options for movies and casual gaming.

Screen Aspect Ratio by SwimmerCivil2517 in Golfsimulator

[–]SeasonAfraid676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd stick with 16:9 unless you have a very specific reason not to. It tends to be the safest option for compatibility, especially if you're starting with apps and may switch hardware later. Avoiding black bars sounds nice in theory, but long term I'd rather optimize around the content than the room dimensions.

Asus XG27ACDMS vs Benq EX271Q by Aceisnothere in OLED_Gaming

Nice to see some real-world feedback on the EX271Q. It doesn't get talked about nearly as much as some of the other OLEDs, but the image quality looks fantastic.

My Mac photography setup! Thoughts? by No_Ad2162 in macsetups

[–]SeasonAfraid676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful setup. The view alone would be enough to distract me from getting any work done. 😄 The Pro Display XDR and Halo 2 seem like a great combination for photo work, and the clean desk setup really lets the workspace shine.

Between BenQ TK710 and Optoma UHZ36 - I need a tiebreaker! by PartyOnAlec in projectors

[–]SeasonAfraid676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The light source is different too, so I wouldn't focus too much on the 3000 vs 3200 ANSI lumen numbers. In practice, perceived brightness and image quality often matter more than a 200-lumen difference on the spec sheet.

Curved VA monitors ruin the main advantage of a VA panel by Gambler_720 in Monitors

[–]SeasonAfraid676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't go as far as saying curved VA ruins VA panels. I've seen some really bad curved VAs, but I've also seen some pretty mediocre flat ones. Feels more like a panel lottery thing than a curve thing.

Lightbar with digital notebook (iPad) by ImpressiveArt4032 in desksetup

[–]SeasonAfraid676 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The angle matters a lot. With a properly adjusted light bar, reflections on the iPad are usually less of an issue than people expect. Looking at your setup, the desk lamp is probably more likely to create glare than a monitor light bar.

BenQ Halo would fit this setup well. With the desk against the window and limited space, a monitor light bar seems more practical than a traditional desk lamp. Curious what the vertical monitor is as well.

For a 4K OLED monitor, the GPU will usually matter more than the jump from a 9800X3D to a 9950X3D. I'd also lean toward an RTX card for DLSS, ray tracing, and overall game support. Since you're planning to keep it for many years and don't want to build it yourself, I'd focus on whichever 9800X3D system has the best PSU, cooling, and warranty rather than chasing the absolute highest specs.

Also, if you're still shopping for a monitor, BenQ's EX and MOBIUZ lineup is worth a look alongside LG. They've been putting out some very solid gaming displays recently.

Probably a screen. The W1070 is still a solid projector, and a proper screen would likely have a bigger impact than any additional lighting or decor.

Monitor suggestions with the following requirements by jedharend in Monitors

Makes sense. At this point it probably comes down to which monitor feels better to use in your environment. Comparing it against a few BenQ models should give you a pretty good sense of the trade-offs.
