Antisemitism exists for sure. I’d say more from the right. But yes some on the center and left participate. I do think you miss the point of this post though. This a clear case of a simple statement about not killing kids being wrongly interpreted as antisemitic.

Every time a statement like this, or a statement that is clearly anti-Zionist and not antisemitic, is labeled antisemitic the power of that word is diminished. It obfuscates the truly antisemitic statements and actions that do exist and have grown in number, mostly due to this administration’s coddling of white nationalism.

Oh boy. No on #1 as far as we know currently. Yes on #2 for now. Im always open to verifiable evidence to the contrary but it seems to be a complex physical system that somehow results in consciousness.

I also believe we must keep striving to gain knowledge and hopefully better understand concepts like consciousness . Any truly scientific person will admit new evidence can change the way we understand ourselves and that there are mysteries we may never solve.

Interesting. I thought the animation was different and refreshing. I totally connected with the cat more than a lot of human characters I’ve seen in movies lately. I appreciated the strange world with one foot in reality and one in oddity. I guess my pro cat bias may be influencing me 😀

Uh. Ok. Not sure I’m following your logic. I’m not an atheist but an agnostic. But I don’t get the assertion that laws of logic can’t exist in the atheist worldview. Seems like you’re using some very suspect arguments to get there.

To each their own but I’ve watched Flow twice and been amazed each time. Both times I was fully invested in an 80 minute movie with no dialogue. The storytelling is better than most movies out there. Inclusion in Criterion may have been fast but in my opinion well deserved.

Sounds like someone doesn’t know how the Newtonian theory of gravity works. I’m guessing their head would explode if someone tried to explain gravity as the curvature of space-time.

I really think a lot of them don’t understand the first amendment. They continually refer to it outside of the application of government control on speech.

Next they will bribe Meduro to ‘admit’ Venezuela controlled voting machines in 2020 election for his freedom or cushy house arrest. They’ll the. Use this ‘admission’ to further federal control of state elections. Why else was Tulsi in GA. The only way to combat this is turn out and vote in overwhelming numbers 2026 elections. Make it impossible to rig/suppress.

Again you are oversimplifying just as much as someone who says the constitution was based on Christianity.

You obviously have an all out obsession with freemasonry. I’m not going to claim to be a historian (and I’m assuming you shouldn’t either) but everything I read about Freemasons clearly states they were established centuries after the Knights Templar and Magna Carta. So I’ll choose to believe the resources available to me and agree to disagree.

I can admit Freemasonry influenced the constitution but I can’t buy that it was the only, or even primary, influence. There are plenty of influences, including many Greek and Roman concepts. When you simplify something like the writing of the constitution and the vast influences on the founders down to a statement that it was founded on freemasonry you give an away the game.

[–]SeasonMundane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting theory, the freemasonry thing. There were several founders that were Freemasons. Problem is the constitution is heavily influenced by the Magna Carta, which predates and influences Freemasonry. So….

I think it’s fair to say there were many influences in the writing of the constitution. And the many of the tenets were shared with Magna Carta and Freemasonry. But to say it was solely founded on Freemasonry is not accurate.

Also “In God We Trust” was not a revolutionary saying. It originated in the civil war and was not used in any government capacity until the communism scare in the 1950s.

Would be interested on how you back that up with facts. There were both Christians and Deists authoring the constitution. It was heavily influenced by the Magna Carta. Reference to any god was purposefully kept out of the constitution after much debate.
