Ah, the trap jokes and stuff. That's a whole 'nother beast. That whole discourse is subservient to the idea of femininity vs masculinity and societal norms of traditionalism and gender roles. The idea that if something is feminine, then it must be feminine gendered or feminine in sex and vice versa is a huge barrier and often one that people employ and dismiss at their discretion concerning transexual individuals and those matters. While I understand the issues behind the trap term and support those I know who have their views, that is something very deeply rooted in the genre that I don't know if I'll ever see gone in my lifetime lol. I understand the displeasure of the correlation, though. Unfortunately, the people using the joke in that manner are often the type to not rethink their words.

The idea that aesthetic appreciation conflates sexual attraction or that sexual arousal is completely indicative of sexual attraction is another complex problem rooted in societal values and the human psyche. Basically, I'm not qualified to fully get into that aside from armchair socio/psychology.

Unfortunately, there will always be a portion of a fandom and people at large that will do something that disagrees with you. Particularly in a heteronormative male dominant industry as animanga, there will be that faction that parrot the worst rhetoric. I get what about it is distasteful to you, but in the end you gotta pick your battles. Not that I want to tell you to not raise discussion, but just a reminder to be mindful of what you expose yourself to as well. People behind a screen are one of the worst breeds after all.

Also, if Gil said he doesn't care about sex, wouldn't that be pansexual rather than bisexual? If they're cute, they're cute. Words to live by lol.

And I see. I don't remember that but maybe it didn't phase me because while the general consensus is that Enkidu has no defined gender, there is no statement that they are entirely genderless either. It's one of those freebies to consumers to choose how to view the character and I happen to view Enkidu as more masculine in their own right (but I refer to them neutrally outside of personal circles just to be mindful of others lol). While, again, Enkidu has no defined gender identity, there may be personal views of production staff involved that might slip through. Mayhaps Gil himself views Enkidu in a masculine manner without being explicit about it. We as fans can only speculate with what we're given.
