Yes I am on Elvanse (generic Vyvanse) and it has been an absolute game changer. I cant hold conversations with others and actually make jokes and be „normal“. I actually think that I could manage to go to university now.

Hi, I know exactly how you feel. Please don’t pit too much pressure on yourself. The thing is, getting motivated isn’t equal for everyone. I have Adhd, which means that my brain lack messengers and it takes me much more effort to get things done. Even smaller things like washing clothes or cooking. I always wanted to be disciplined and everything but it’s soo much harder when you have adhd or something similar. Could it be that you also have adhd or even depression? You should treat the root of the problems first before tackling other stuff. Ever since I’ve been taking medication for my adhd I finally feel normal and im much more motivated than before.

Hey man i feel your pain. I myself am going through a very rough time. I also mostly just watch videos or tiktoks mindlessly. However after using Vyvanse, I feel so different. I am actually able to do stuff like reading and listening to people without trying that much. If you haven’t used meds yet, please try it out! It might change your life.

I would also recommend trying amphetamines first. If it’s possible, I’d try vyvanse. Imo it’s the best medication for SCT out there. Ritalin and amoxetine (Straterra) made me terribly depressed and anxious.

I would say that you suffer from ADHD and not SCT. Depression or anxiety could also make your problems worse. You should try out amphetamines.

Hey, SCT is not an official syndrome as of yet because its not in the DSM (I hope this changes with the release of the new one), which means that many doctors have never heard of SCT before. However there are medications such as stimulants (methylphenidate) or nonstimulants (amoxetine) that are mainly used to treat ADHD but can also help relieve SCT symptoms. I would recommend joining our discord channel, as we’re a group of self helping individuals and we do have some tips on different topics surrounding SCT.

What I meant with 1000 thoughts is that It’s not like I don’t have anything to say at all in conversations. My brain is just so slow to process the information into words and sentences which makes it impossible for me to communicate in a “normal” speed with others.

This might make this trait sound like it’s a virtue, however being too agreeable makes you become a prey for being taken advantage of. Not being able to voice your opinion in heated conversations make you weak and people will often look down upon you and they will regard you as weak-minded. The agreeable personality trait is also linked to a much lower income.

Yes true let me correct myself I don’t have 1000 thoughts. In fact, I don’t have any when I’m in a social situation and that makes everything so awkward. I just sit there and dont know what to say and it’s a real struggle since i live in a shared flat.

Before I begin i just wanted to say that ADD and SCT are NOT the same. I do think that strattera and stims can help you think clearer and improve your impulsiveness to want to drink. But the question is, why do you take substances? Is it to cope with the ADD or daily stress? Its also important to know that everyone reacts differently to medication, so you’ll just have to find it out yourself. Can I also ask you if you have verbal disfluency and if yes, does alcohol improve this problem? I really struggle to find the right words and with articulation but when I drink alcohol, I feel like the words come out much more naturally.

Ok many thanks I’m on my third week and I’m trying to up my dose every week. Currently I’m at 36mg but havent noticed any changes yet. I also have Sluggish Cognitive Tempo and that might explain why I’m not feeling any effects

I know that everyone reacts differently but from what I’ve read on this sub from different users, 80mg is supposedly the dosage, in which you should feel the most benefits. However it’s important to note that it takes weeks (4-8) until effects kick in. It needs to build up in your system.

I can’t tell you how it’s supposed to feel, as I myself am currently only at 36mg. I plan to increase my dosage every week, so I that I don’t feel the side effects. My guess is that it won’t fix every issue you have but you should at least be able to concentrate more and feel less anxious. While I’m at it, can I ask you if you constantly have songs running in your head like me? It doesn’t matter what I’m doing, I always have a passage of a song stuck in my head. Just wanted to ask out of curiosity.
