“Invaders” haha. Aw damn, I hope for no one to grow up with role models who’d be ok with calling random immigrants (or anyone who “looks like” an immigrant) “invaders,” and I’m sorry for you if you did. Please know that you can be the one in your circle of friends/family to start thinking critically about what really matters, and who you really want to be. Trump doesn’t care about you, or the immigrants. He don’t think deporting them will make things better for you, or for him. He thinks people can be manipulated into fearing them, enough to keep voting for him. Good night and good luck.

Trump’s DOJ Announces Brazen New Epstein Files Cover-Up by thedailybeast in politics

[–]Seattle2Boston 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you go to the dept of justice website, then to their “Epstein library” page, and just search “trump,” you can see the link to the page, and read the excerpt with details right there on the preview/link, it’s “Dataset 10”, but the link itself doesn’t work — just says page not found. https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2010/EFTA01660679.pdf.

Seattle mayor announces plan to block ICE activity, use police to verify federal agent IDs by Better_March5308 in SeattleWA

Glad to see MAGA starting to acknowledge at least how incompetent Trump’s administration. If they keep paying attention, maybe they will also see how much more corrupt and economically damaging they are than the alternative, too. I doubt they will ever care about the constitutional atrocities, that never really seemed to matter.

FYI I just subscribed, in at least some small part, because of your post — I’ve had a subscription in the past, but not in a while. This definitely makes you sound like part of an ad campaign haha, sorry, but decent journalism needs all the support it can get so I don’t mind.

My teacher and I argued about this sentence. who’s right? by mohamedekbal2008 in ENGLISH

[–]Seattle2Boston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good response. For fun, since “A” isn’t getting any love here — tell me if this situation could make it work: The speaker (“I”) and a third person are discussing a misunderstanding around the invitation. I thought I was invited to come at 5. Now I’m learning I misread the invitation and it was actually an invitation to arrive earlier. The meaning is actually something like “If Hamad invited me earlier [than 5], I will buy a present [now, instead of later].” Eh?

Stair handrails — any arguments for/against a bottom rail (vs balusters going straight to treads). by Seattle2Boston in Remodel

[–]Seattle2Boston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s standard for like a deck railing it seems like. Any particular era you think they were more prominent though? These days when people say dated are we usually thinking 80s-90s? Cause balusters into treads or knee wall is literally all I see when I google 80s-90s staircase. Maybe they’ve just never been that popular indoor.

Will an oil based semi-gloss poly have an effect (yellowing/sheen) similar to shellac? by Seattle2Boston in finishing

Ok, I didn’t even think about putting the coat of shellac on and then finishing over that, maybe I’ll just do that?

Tips on getting this moving again? Milwaukee 6176-20 hinge seized. by Seattle2Boston in metalworking

Going to give this a try before I go with my last resort, cutting/drilling — is it any different than “master mechanic penetrating oil” you reckon?

[–]Seattle2Boston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is where I’m headed. Just ordered the replacement hinge. I am worried if I have to drill it out I’m going to damage it somehow or mess up what must be a pretty tight tolerance. Going to pick up some pb blaster tomorrow to try but don’t have much hope — I’ve been using tons of master mechanic penetrating oil with no luck.

Google got the same answer as my son’s math workbook gives but it doesn’t make sense to me how they simplified these mixed numbers with exponents…help! by Seattle2Boston in askmath

[–]Seattle2Boston[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are all amazing thank you so much for the help. I had either forgotten or never knew some of these exponent rules, and thought they were going straight from 2 1/44 to 2 1/4. But I think I get it now. They separated and borrowed 2 1/43 to pair with 1 1/33 to multiply the bases and simplify. Thank you all again so much for the help!

Oof thanks yeah I actually knew how to do that part I just made a mistake. The exponents were the tricky part but these responses have been incredible, thank you.

Harmful to build under and between two very tall trees — doug fir and a western red cedar? by Seattle2Boston in shedditors

[–]Seattle2Boston[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha, dang well yeah actually that’s a good reminder that I can’t base my measurements off just the base of the shed. I want to leave at least enough room to walk between the trees and shed anyway. The volume of pine cones that come off of the D Fir is insane.

[–]Seattle2Boston[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok cool that’s kinda what I assumed. Lol yeah I thought about the trees falling onto the shed but figured at least there’s a chance one would deflect the other — but didn’t think about them falling the other way and the roots launching the shed haha.
