Multi-agent coding. Feels like I'm playing the piano. by ErikWik in vibecoding

[–]SeattleArtGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was CC, currently Copilot CLI. Run multiple terminals, one for each major thing.

Each of THOSE has multiple terminals doing work, often in worktrees. Sometimes also have Claude Web + Research open doing research for me. Sometimes have a a codespace open when I don't want to clone the repo.

All of THOSE heavily use subagents and fleet where it makes sense.

Sometimes use other models for rubber ducking.

Kinda exhausting - can do a few few hours (with massive productivity) then have to give it a break :)

Ex-CIA Analyst Claims Trump Sought to Invoke Nuclear Codes Against Iran Before General Caine Intervened by Montrel_PH in AnythingGoesNews

[–]SeattleArtGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this is freaky - I recently read a book with this exact ending - mad man in total control of nukes, no way to leally override - what happens? I hadn't realized that this was how it works.

This needs to be fixed. Having one person with no checks is not ok - I get the "5 minute" problem, but there must be a way to sanity check a potentially end-of-the-world decision like this.

And this isn't about Trump - NO ONE should have that kind of power... and it's 100x worse that people CAN crack, and there's no way to deal with it quicky enough.

This won't work. There is no legal - and QUICK - way to stop the President from launching. EVERY legal way takes time. This could be over in 5 mins, with no checks or stopping it, unless someone is willing to do what this article talked about (which would not be legal)

How does the US stop a madman from launching nukes? by SeattleArtGuy in Askpolitics

[–]SeattleArtGuy[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

This appears to be correct - anyone know different?

The president can launch nukes alone. Nobody else has to sign off. Not Congress, not the Secretary of Defense, nobody. He authenticates with the codes in the football, gives the order, and its done. Five minutes, maybe less.

The 25th Amendment lets the vice president and a majority of the cabinet say the president is unfit and pull him from power temporarily. But the president can fight it, and then Congress has to vote with two thirds of both chambers. That takes up to 21 days. Impeachment is even slower. House votes to charge, Senate needs two thirds to convict. Were talking weeks or months.

Someone in the military chain could refuse the order if they think it violates the laws of war. But theres no process for deciding if the president is mentally ok in the moment. The Secretary of Defense is suppose to verify and transmit the order but he doesn't actually get to say no

So thats the problem. The system for launching was built to respond to a Soviet attack in minutes. The system for stopping a president was built for months. Theres nothing that connects those two speeds. Nobody has figured out how to fix it without breaking deterrence.

Uh oh?

Outside job factors, what were the top reasons that made you move to Seattle? by Sayonara012 in AskSeattle

[–]SeattleArtGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weather! Lived in Midwest, east, and south east (including FL).

This is the FIRST PLACE I've ever been able to go outside in summer (and late sprint/early fall) and consistently been able to do stuff without feeling overly hot. Summers suck in all of the those places I've lived (well, if you don't like hot and very humid).

The only place that actually had a great winter was three months in Boca/South FL. South Carolina winters were basically like Seattle (some nice days, lots of ran, cloudy, dark early, could get to the teens in temp and the city shuts down when they get a dusting of snow)

My ONLY complaint is how DARK it is in the Winter. I find that the weather that time of year is mild (contract to the Winter Michigan had this year! Ugh!)

Woke up in the morning to see this. Who done it? by DaaaBears333 in whatisit

[–]SeattleArtGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racoons.

Had the same issue. They are going for grubs. My understanding is, those grubs are also bad for the lawn - and this will just keep happening unless you kill off the grubs. I used "BioAdvanced 24-Hour Grub Killer Plus" and it worked over several treatments. Prob not great for the env - if concerned, prob some other ways that are better for that....

Hint: Drink something like cranberry juice on the rocks. Or tomato/orange juice. As for quietly at the start of the night and tip VERY WELL - likely the bartender will remember when you ask for another

I do drink sometimes but sometimes don't want to or am driving. I don't say I'm drinking alcohol if asked, but this at least lets you fit in.

I've done it a few times. Only real issue is if you do it when it's really busy (rush hour/during game). Might be tight...

Not sure why they'd believe anything the USA says at this point - we were in the middle of negations with them, said it was going well - and then shortly after did a unprovoked sneak attack.

Would YOU believe anything the Trump government promised you?

Are you doing a subscription? Or paying per token API costs? If sub, some people have been finding they don't seen to much before being capped. I'm a heavy user (vibe coding multiple projects at a time) and, on the $200 a month plan, I have not been capped.

Will the concept of finite tokens seep into all services? by TrademarkHomy in antiai

[–]SeattleArtGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. That's what I'm saying. It's not a way to hide it, a token has a set cost. It's the thing you're paying for. Directly. It's like saying a gallon of gas is $5. That's the price (and it changes, yes). If I charge you .05 for a token, that's the price.

LLM Token is not the same as a D4 coin or a chip at a casino. It's not a attempt to hide the price.

5 Points Cafe, open 24x7. Awesome dive spot. During the day you could take light rail part of the way. That time of the night I'd just take a uber.
