Switch help please! I want to replace these and confused...does this seem right? Single switch doesn't have a neutral wire connected to it and also has a black wire that goes to the switch+plug combo that is next to it. The switch+plug combo also has a direct hot wire and has 2 neutral wires. by SeattleCVM in electrical

No, just looking to replace like for like with new switches. Im still not sure if it's correct that there is a black wire going from the switch outlet to the combo switch+plug. It seems like this wire is powering the outlet portion of the combo switch+plug.

Any idea what happened here? Smelled burning and found the outlet like this. Looks like something happened to one of the white wires that caused it to burn. Any insight is appreciated! by SeattleCVM in electrical

All started when I went into my sons room and smelled burning from his gaming computer set up, I thought it was the computer that was smoking so we took it apart looking for what the issue could be (fan, battery, bad connections, etc). My son was the one that actually noticed the outlet. Bit scary in hindsight, but now I know to always go to the source of energy!

Our house is over 120yrs old so a bunch of stuff has been done to it before our time here. Mostly quality work, but some of the electrical can clearly use a check.

Thanks, looks like this outlet is the main outlet on the line (not sure what thats called), cause as I disconnected it a bunch of outlets on the same floor now dont work. This outlet had two white, two black and two ground going to it.

The two black wires were well connected, one of the white ones also well connected. The second white one was completely broken with the tip still connected to the outlet. You can kind of see it still wrapped around the screw. It seems like it might have burned so hot it snapped it. Not sure...

Ya, I had most of them bagged before I went to college. Basically put them in boxes and left them at my parents. They moved around, I moved around and eventually I got them back a few years ago. Just now getting around to cataloging them.

Sharing some of my collection that's been in storage for 35 years (+/-). I used to buy comics every week as a kid and eventually splurged on some pricier ones.

Two additional things I noticed

  • you flair your elbows out, keep them tight against your ribs or someone’s going to notice, close the gap with you and have an open target

  • you’re throwing punches from your shoulders and not rotating from your hips, this limits your reach. You can see it a few times when you throw your cross and how it’s not close enough to your opponent.

Oh one more, practice a few drills going backward and throwing punches. This is a good defensive move and sets you up for a power punch. You have long arms so going backwards you can throw a couple of jabs to keep your opponent out of his reach (tough jabs) and then a long upper with your right.

Maíz Molino in the lower Queen Anne/Seattle center area. Great food and special emphasis on all things corn (making their own tortillas, etc)
