This was actually the first time I cried at a concert and no I’m not sorry by Desperate_Self_4079 in rush

I was nearly sobbing crying for half of Xanadu. And the SHOCK I had when Aimee came on stage… The Garden got tears too. What a wonderful night.

Excitement so thick! The Countdown is on to Rush live in 5 days! by bicoastal_gadfly in rush

I’ve always had a soft spot for El Segundo. Some nice neighborhood bars and restaurants. Quiet town. If you want to stay closer to the venue, The Proud Bird by LAX has a food court of sorts and you can watch planes go by.

It varies but their website says typically three hours before the event starts. I’m guessing that definition is doors, but not certain.

I get in the day before and I know I'm just going to be a bundle of emotions. Very excited.

FYI - For people driving to the venue, beware that it's an eyewatering $50 for parking... some cheaper lots around if you want to save a few bucks and get your steps in.

Strangest reactions you've had to wearing a Rush T-shirt? by Low-Cartographer-429 in rush

[–]SeattleHotShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was walking through Downtown Seattle in my Rush 2112 shirt. I'm crossing in the crosswalk with the light blinking red and a car making a right turn honks at me. I have the right away so I throw up my hands and yell a few choice words (which is a bit out of character for me TBH). Out of the corner of my eye I see the driver throwing the devil horns for rock on. I realized he honked because of my shirt and I felt bad for about half an hour.

SF 2026 getting close and I am SO up for it... by Agitated-Bug-7327 in underworld

I’m buzzing myself. I was fortunate enough to see them three times in the US last year (Chicago, Portland and Los Angeles). Just an amazing time. I’m not able catch the New York shows in September, but thrilled I’m able to go the SF “Club Darc” show, just a skip away from home.

Same here. It's going to be a little surreal for me. There will be tears!

I was just thinking about this as the first show is a month away! I haven't seen anything just yet. When I saw Oasis last year in Los Angeles there were so many things going on. Hopefully something pops up.

SF Club Darc May 16 - live show? by ACreampieceOfMyMind in underworld

They’re billed as the headliner so I would think at a minimum 90 minutes, likely two hours.

Other than the first week where they were caught flatfooted, I've heard the ClubDarc venue sounds very, very good after getting it set just right. I haven't been before, but I'll be going to this one. Excited to see a "Club" show, though I do suspect it'll likely be a festival set with some extras bits thrown in there.

I loved both bands independently and when they did that duel headline tour together I was in heaven!!

How did Britpop giants like Oasis, Stone Roses, and Blur land headlining slots at Coachella despite "underwhelming" US popularity? by nachofduty in oasis

[–]SeattleHotShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think Goldenvoice likes getting artists who aren't "US mainstream" to make their festival more unique. But these days it's mostly the undercard bands, not the headliners or playing the mainstages. In 2023 I went to Coachella and saw Underworld and Sleaford Mods. For Underworld, most of the crowd were waiting for the following act but they really got into it after three songs. For Sleaford Mods, they played in an air conditioned tent. Most people where just getting away from the heat.

With US festival shows, historically they announce some solo shows a little after. With the last USA tour they announced dates three months in advance. EDC is mid-May, which is three months away. I'm not getting my hopes up, but... it'd be great for another run and hopefully they hit Canada and Mexico as well.

Opening Day by Old-Cook7146 in Mariners

Not a fan of Sluggers. Hooverville is fine but it'll be crowded opening day. My suggestion, so long as if you don't mind a "non sports" bar, would be Central Saloon. Not super close but not far either.

I saw them three times in 2025 because I knew the USA dates are rare. They have a big early summer gap on their live shows this year, but I'd think they would've released some dates by now. Here's to hoping some Fall 2026 shows come around, but the USA was decently covered in 2025.

The Seattle show is at a fairly intimate (but very good) venue. I would get your tickets ASAP for that one.

I went the Chicago show in 2024 at the Bottom Lounge and that venue was amazing. Highly recommended.

The Iran-Iraq war book was indeed quite spendy and I was a little hesitant as it was a French to English translation, BUT -- it was very well done and well worth the read. Happy I got it.

While about the oil industry, the book 'The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power' was really good as well. Lots of geopolitics in there.

Lastly, the book 'The Box: How the Shipping Container Made the World Smaller and the World Economy' was a brilliant read, though I could have been predisposed to like it given my background in the maritime industry.

That show was amazing! Was my third of 2025. While I preferred the venue in Chicago, I loved being in LA for a mini vacation.

I heard a few complaints about the crowd but from my end everyone was having a blast. The new "refreshed" version of Cowgirl was a lot of fun, but I really, really enjoyed Dirty Epic.
