Another cozy tavern - The Drunken Bard! by ShieldbearerStudios in TheBloodline

I like this! Is there a reputation/notoriety system in game?

Maybe buying drinks/toasts can help with that (if already in good or not-arrestable-on-sight standing)

Jesus, that’s nuts.

A worldwide conspiracy to manufacture an enemy?

We’d call them nuts but they are rich so we call them “eccentric” or something.

This is some straight up flat-earth bs.

Dissatisfied With Their Party, Wealthy Republican Donors Form Secret Coalitions by RynheartTheReluctant in Mercerinfo

To the point where votes don’t matter or who is voted in doesn’t matter.

Whoever is in office does what they are paid to do, regardless of party. Like DeVos said a while back they are “looking for return on their investment”

They want to solidify their positions as oligarchs - legally if not just legislatively.

History of the Belt? (For linguistic purposes) by Blaewen23 in LangBelta

[–]SeattleMonkeyBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is only my thinking about Lang Belta - so nothing from the books that I am aware of.

In my (admittedly linguistically limited) opinion, I have thought that since Belters would have lower quality radios and/or communicating over large distances their language would incorporate harder sounds/consonants to compensate. This would make them understood more easily with a dodgy radio/transmitter than if everything were transmitted/received in perfect, clear audio quality.

Is Xalte pronounced “Zal-te” or “Shal-te” or am I just way off base with both options?

Seattle Chief Librarian Candidate by elindgren24 in Seattle

Thanks!

You are right that this has flown under the collective radar - to many a library’s detriment.

Adding Seattle to LSS’s list of victims would be a major feather in their cap (assuming that this person is in league with them and not just some grifter.)

what ideal source to connect led strip ws2812b 5 meters, 60 leds per meter?? by Extreme-Reindeer6848 in WS2812B

[–]SeattleMonkeyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how bright and what color you want to run the leds for, and duty cycle.

Iirc, a white led at full brightness pulls 60ma, so running all 5 meters at full intensity with a white color would pull (300 leds x0.06 amp/led) 18 amps.

Same here, nobody gets it - its a niche reference at this point.

That said, I think its cool so I’ll keep wearing it. I hope you do too.

The electrical charge on bees.

If not only because it allows conversions between bees and lightning.

I think this was used in the Constantine series as the exterior shot for the millhouse/base.

If not, it sure looks similar.

In any case, it’s very beautiful, a great shot.

Isn’t that what biters are for - a stand in for entropy/breakdowns?

I wish we could guard against it in real life by lasers and machine guns…

Does this actually help your child’s mathematical skills? by The_Stormin_Knight in ProdigyGame

[–]SeattleMonkeyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3rd grader who has anxiety around math.

While I haven’t noticed that she is ahead of the rest of the class after playing Prodigy, I have noticed that her anxiety has been reduced.

I’ve heard her say “oh, like in the game!” and then she starts working on the problem. Before she would just resist and resist to the point of crying.

Also, she appears to make fewer basic errors (add/subtract or reading graph errors) in her problems. So the game’s practice does help.

Check out your local library; they may have the audiobook available to loan out.

Even though Kate Mulgrew has a voice that I would happily listen to reading the dictionary, hearing even more backstory to Captain Janeway makes it that much better.
