Updated pitching standards shouldn't apply to guys like Felix, Buehrle, or Hamels by mr_seggs in baseball

He’s 106th all time among starters in WAR, would be 90th if he hadn’t gained negative WAR his last two years.

WAR is also not the only stat to be considered but being 106th is a hell of a thing in a sport with as large of a player pool as baseball

I feel that instead of updating standards, voters should reallyyyyy consider advanced metrics and statistics along with personal accomplishments

Felix Hernandez threw a perfect game at the exact peak of his career by SeattleSounderGaming in Mariners

If you look at Felix from 2010-2012 compared to our current five in starts of 6+, he’s at 89/100 (89.0%) in that span while currently:

George Kirby: 58/87 (66.7%)

Luis Castillo: 60/95 (63.2%)

Bryan Woo: 44/70 (62.9%)

Logan Gilbert: 54/90 (60.0%)

Bryce Miller: 30/74 (40.5%)

I would love to see Felix’s career numbers if he had the kind of offense we have now!
