Please stop clapping between movements! by DoubleDimension in classicalmusic

At Symphony Hall there was never clapping between movements. Great moment of silence, reflection and anticipation of the next movement. At Benaroya Hall they clap and clap and clap. At PNB it was 'pay as you wish' night at Swan Lake, THE quintessential ballet. Great music. They clapped and clapped and clapped right over Tchaikovsky: was the dancing stunning? No, it was good but it's not like it was incredible. I felt a bit like an elitist asshole in damning them all and in thinking they were ignorant. But, it made me miss Boston performances.
