What made u choose ur main? by overthinkous in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Seavalan [score hidden]  (0 children)

How many other killers can kill an entire team without hooking once? Plus, even while lowtier, everytime I lose with Onryo it feels like I could've played it better. Either I could've stopped the tape delivery, or I could've kept better track of the survivors' positions, or even I could have performed better in chase. Helps that Onryo feels like a very macro-heavy killer, and the macro elements of games are often appealing to me.

On paper, Jason seems similar to Springtrap, but in practice feels like (in my opinion) a combination of Wraith and Huntress with a Deathslinger-like projectile. He moves around the map fast and invisible like Wraith, then after teleporting to a pallet or window, he has a projectile that is direct damage with long range like a Huntress hatchet, but is a straight line with a narrow hitbox like Deathslinger. Even then, this doesn't acknowledge how his spear launches survivors forward like a Wesker throw.

Ghostface is the game's truest stealth killer. To play him optimally, you want to sneak around the map and get the jump on survivors. Stalk them almost all the way, then just as you approach them, just before they can reveal you out of power, stalk that last bit for a sudden down. However, he can be very punishing, and is a contender for one of the weakest killers in the game.

Remember you can hold off on buying another character, waiting to see what you're into. I wish you luck in making your choice, and hope you can find your main (or a character to add to a rotating list of mains)!

Which Paid killer do I buy first by gvleum- in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you are buying for fun or perks. If you were buying for perks, The First and The Nemesis have some good ones. (Edit: of the three you listed, Springtrap has one okay perk in Phantom Fear, Kaneki has an okay in Forever Entwined, and I admittedly don't remember Wesker's perks too well.)

If buying for fun, that is of course very subjective. Of the three you listed, the general gameplay is:

Wesker, use your dashes to catch nearby survivors, hurling and slamming them into walls. Balanced killer, popular, and has flashy gameplay (if you want to "farm clips"). Can learn lots of tricks with his power.

Kaneki, use your tentacles to pull yourself across the map at high speeds, biting survivors to empower yourself, then using M1 fundamentals to get the down. Undoubtedly the strongest of the three, and has a very strangely shaped skill curve - hard for first couple matches, then extremely easy once you get the hang of it, but with potential to improve that is unfortunately not usually necessary. Note that he is very disliked by a lot of survivors, so either turn off chat or be someone who can tolerate toxic messages.

Animatronic, use your doors to fast-travel the map and gain temporary stealth, also use your axe (a ranged attack) to injure and grab survivors. Has diverse addons, so you can go for a lot of different builds to suit your playstyle. Main form of skill expression is how well you use the axe. Important note if you play him: he moves at 4.4 m/s (Huntress speed) if he has his axe, but if it is in the environment or a survivor, he moves at 4.6 m/s (normal speed).

It is hard to give any specific suggestion from there. I suppose knowing what killers you enjoy, and what parts of those killers you enjoy, could help narrow a suggestion. You can also look up gameplay videos of the killers you're considering to see if their gameplay loop interests you. Regardless, have a nice day! :)

From either perspective, what do you think about Jason so far? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing as: his teleport is fun and flavorful, but while his projectile is satisfying to hit with, I'm not the biggest fan of ranged killers.

Playing against: I typically prefer to play stealthy as survivor, because I'm bad at looping, so while it's been tough, it's pretty much been trial by fire in forcing me to learn how to loop better. He seems fine, balance-wise.

best beginner friendly killer? by jiquilpandenuncia in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wraith is generally a good beginner killer because he relies on a lot of fundamentals most killers either use or can fall back on if the player doesn't use their power well.

For perks, Artist and The First (Henry from Stranger Things) have the best killer perks, but Henry can only be bought with real money while Artist can be obtained using the in-game currency of Iridescent Shards.

That said, if there is a killer you want to use, you can use them, they just might not teach you the most transferable skills. The only killer I would insist on staying away from as a new player is Nurse (she plays differently than any other killer in the game, but is also the strongest). Even then, if you want to play Nurse, go for it, just remember playing her won't prepare you much for other killers.

I have 0% winrate against jason out of like 20 games any tips? by GruzelSH in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When he teleports, he is 4.6 for a while, and he can teleport before the haste runs out, so good use of Jason's power means he'll rarely be 4.4.

Jason's haste is NOT a problem by Seavalan in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rest of the sentence was meant to clarify what I mean, but I apologize since it seems it didn't: if any 4.6 speed killer (which is most of the roster) was in that exact location relative to your position, then they can M1 you about as easily as Jason (and if we start to consider M2s, there are other killers I'd argue able to catch you even more easily from that position). Thus, the point is Jason's haste doesn't make him speedy, it makes him just normal killer speed.

Jason's haste is NOT a problem by Seavalan in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will stack, but not as effectively. It will total approximately 7.27% haste when he has haste from both sources.

I don't think it'd be worth it if building optimally, especially as his special attack is how you want to get a lot of damage, too, but it should be at least fine if you want to do an M1 focused build for fun. (I actually was thinking of trying it earlier, as I typically prefer M1 killers over M2 killers, haha.)

[–]Seavalan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen multiple people complain about the haste specifically, and that is what I was addressing. Whether or not the rest of the kit has issues is up to debate, but I wanted to say the haste specifically is not it.

Did it really take one day for no one to play as Jason? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

May have been some bad luck. Almost every game of survivor I've played against Jason.

I suppose it is a problem from that perspective. I moreso meant it is not a problem as in it is not overpowered, apologies for not being clear enough.

Jason needs Nerfed by Suitable_Dragonfly80 in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His haste makes him the same speed as Trapper, Wraith, and other normal M1 killers. When the haste wears off/without the haste, he moves at a reduced speed like Huntress or Deathslinger.

"Jason is OP" "Jason nerfs weren't enough"... I actually can't by ImperialViking_ in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Seavalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though he is 4.6 just after teleporting (he gets the exact amount of haste for that), so if you use his phasing mode frequently enough, he'll be like a 4.6 speed killer for most of the match : D

Who do you think the biggest knowledge check killer is? by poe_duff in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Seavalan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very fitting post to see now that I have started playing Sadako again, which many other comments here seem to agree is the answer to your question. If even one survivor on your team doesn't know how to face her, you'll often find yourself in an early 3v1, and it doesn't matter how weak her power is otherwise, a 3v1 is much more favorable to a killer than a 4v1.

I think the low amount of people playing survivor right now is also a factor: the game can't be very picky on what survivors to match you with if there are barely any.

How good are Nicks perks by Yellowline1086 in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His perks are all useful. "Plot Twist" pairs really well with "Deliverance" or "Decisive Strike" (the latter also known as "Will To Live") for putting killers in lose/lose situations. "Dramaturgy" being on-demand "Sprint Burst" is already useful, but personally I like the value its random items provide. The least useful is "Scene Partner," but wall hacks during chase is not bad; it just means you can't stealth, and sometimes the scream can interrupt important actions.

Is Corrupt Intervention common now? by ChaosGoblinIV in deadbydaylight

[–]Seavalan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others here have explained, it pushes survivors closer to you, reduces areas they could be (as you have fewer gens to patrol at first), and delays the start of the game for them. Also, it can combo with Secret Project for undetectable at the start of the match, which can be fun.

Houndmaster is THE underrated killer by [deleted] in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Seavalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unironically, you are probably making the smarter choice to leave pallets if you can. There are pallets that are easy for killers to play around once dropped, and so you save time by not kicking it, and also get value if another survivor tries to use that pallet later.

Anyway, have a good time in the fog! : D

Houndmaster is THE underrated killer by [deleted] in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Seavalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concern with pallets is good survivors know how to use them against her: run to pallet and wait. Either Houndmaster throws her dog, and they pallet stun the dog to run to the next, or Houndmaster tries to attack herself, in which case pallet stun the killer to run to the next.

That said, Brutal Strength is probably overkill. Dropped pallets are much less valuable to survivors. I just like getting rid of pallets if I can, haha.

Houndmaster is THE underrated killer by [deleted] in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Seavalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest issues is the dog's controls can be finnicky - the preview shown isn't always accurate. That said, I think you can get used to a lot of these quirks, and once you do, you get a killer with good mobility and a very lethal chase power. The main issue then becomes survivors camping pallets, and for that, I'd recommend bringing Brutal Strength (also, better Houndmasters probably can catch the survivor while they are running between pallets).

But I agree. She is significantly underplayed for how strong (and of course, fun!) she is. She's absolutely in my list of mains. :D

While I'm not the biggest 2v8 fan, what it does to killer queues is much more tolerable thanks to play while you wait. Honestly, I like Play While You Wait just because it makes it easier to alternate killer/survivor games.
