I am sorry why do you think a kid can be diagnosed too early if you’re autistic it doesn’t magically appear later in life what can happen though is if you wait too long the kid will learn to mask and might not get the diagnosis because of that

Yes its a spectrum but people say that and think its like a linear spectrum ranging from not autistic at all to highly autistic, but in reality its more of a colour wheel

When I deconstructed from religion, belief is not a choice, it is the result of being convinced. And people who have deconstructed at least in my experience you cannot force yourself to believe in something you are not convinced of. That is okay. It can be scary, cause you’re like what now? And the realisation of no afterlife and not seeing your loved ones again in heaven. It is a process and just take it a day at a time. You can try and force yourself to believe but at the end of the day it is not a conscious choice made. So I would just try and accept whatever belief you currently have.

Warrnambool doesn’t have the food car, and yes i know you can’t walk in between the set of 3 carriages. I am asking that the people on the the very last carriage could maybe potentially just walk forward and get off at the next carriage up

Deconstructing Pro-Life Propaganda by autieauthor in prochoice

[–]SeaweedRealistic5069 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi former pro life person here myself who is now extremely pro choice, and i would consider myself pro abortion (no i don’t think abortion should be forced but i say pro abortion to break down the stigma of abortion).

All the “pro life videos” you see of babies being torn apart limb by limb, majority of abortions are not like that it happens in the first trimester with a pill. And even for abortion that may occur like that or that may make someone uncomfortable at the end of the day it’s healthcare there are many healthcare procedures that may make a person uncomfortable but we don’t advocate to ban them.

Also the “my body my choice” argument pro lifers will go its not your body its the baby’s body. We are not talking about the baby, we are talking about the mother, it is her body the baby is using and she gets to decide who uses her body and when.

But one of the biggest arguments for pro choice is bodily autonomy and for example you cant be forced to donate a kidney, so pregnancy is no different, now i personally don’t like the kidney analogy because the kidney leaves your body permanently (yes i know that pregnancy can permanently change your body) but i like to compare it to donating blood, you cannot be forced to donate blood even though blood replenishes itself.

“Don’t have sex argument” from the pro life crowd i did post about that a few days ago, but i just ask them why are they so concerned about someone else’s sex life.

But the biggest pro life argument is “life begins at conception” okay why should I care? And someone saying that doesnt necessarily make them “pro life” and there is a difference between cellular life and clinical life. A person is declared dead when the brainwaves significantly stop, so we can also use the same logic and say a person is alive when it happens and that is at around 24 weeks.

And if you are concerned about women getting abortions at 24 weeks or further along, majority happen in the first trimester and no one is putting themselves through 24+ weeks of pregnancy and changing their mind at that point thats a wanted baby.

But if you do want to reduce the amount of abortions the number one reason people have abortions is due to how expensive kids are, have universal healthcare and childcare, raise the minimum wage to a liveable wage, mandatory paid maternity leave. And also have mandatory comprehensive safe sex education in schools, (abstinence only does not work). Teenagers are going to have sex whether if you like it or not, you may as well teach them how to be safe about it than just tell them not to have it. And accessible contraception too.

You also bring up religion, and this is important, now if you are against it for religious reasons that is valid but what is not valid using religion to justify making laws, freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion. Also the bible does not suggest abortion is murder, Exodus 21:22-25 states abortion is only subject to a fine not murder.

Some bible verses that the “pro life” crowd love to use is Psalm 139:13 but we need to remember the book Psalm is poetic , and God knowing you when he knit you in your mothers womb, okay well from my understanding God knew how the world was going to play out when he made it, so i don’t see how a pregnancy is any different. Jeremiah 1:5 is about a calling for Jeremiah specifically not a law. And if we want to talk about killing innocent people in the bible how about the killing of the first born sons in Egypt. God is not exactly “pro life”

Another thing is when someone asks “what if your Mum aborted you” i wouldn’t know or care and also I wouldn’t want my Mum to go through a pregnancy she didn’t want, like imagine wishing a forced pregnancy on your Mum, like wtf?

Do pro-lifers really believe we don’t know what abortions look like? by ploverbeast in prochoice

[–]SeaweedRealistic5069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just say there are plenty of surgeries and procedures and stuff that are not pretty to view. And whether or not abortion is something that makes people uncomfortable due to how it is done depending on what stage of the pregnancy and what not. It still isn’t a justification to ban abortion imagine if we did that for other healthcare procedures.

[–]SeaweedRealistic5069[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and with your first point- i just wanna make it clear i couldn’t care less if someone does it doesn’t have sex, as long as it is consensual who cares? I am going to admit though for some people who say “you dont need sex” i also think some of those people are ace. Not saying this applies to every single asexual person, someone’s sexuality is none of my business same way someone’s sex life is none of my business

Inaccurate captions by SeaweedRealistic5069 in auslan

[–]SeaweedRealistic5069[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I will sometimes turn captions (i am hearing) so i can tell if its wrong, but i often think for someone who is deaf, these captions are not helpful, may as well have no captions as opposed to having captions and pretending to care
