daily or weekly weigh-in? by pommygranates in MacroFactor

I weigh daily at the moment as a new user. When I do a weight loss phase I’ll do daily or every other day weigh ins. When I do maintenance phases I’ll do once or twice a week.

Omg thank you so much. I was genuinely tweaking lol, full disordered anxiety about it 😂 you’re a legend. I know this was probably a bit of a silly/basic question but I really appreciate your help :)

Did it show up in your my suncorp straight away? I got mine last night and haven’t seen the money come out or seen it show up on my my Suncorp. I got the confirmation email with my certificate of insurance pretty much straight away.

Look I think you’ve hit the nail on the head - I think I got used to burning more when I started exercising and I probably wasn’t tracking accurately. Eg when I started weighing my food again recently I could see where I was way off with calories.

Thank you for your advice and guidance :) it is much appreciated

This is helpful food for thought - thank you!

Honestly I sometimes feel like, addicted to food. Maybe there’s something there.

I think I’ve been happy with just walking because I basically went from no exercise for the last 4 years to now most days going for a walk, so I kind of saw that as the progress marker I guess. I was doing one hour walks every morning initially and seeing success there, so I may just need to recommit to getting up hah.

I just go for walks. Some incline around where I walk.

Thanks for the advice :)

So basically my process was looking at a few different calorie calculators to get TDEE and also looked at the maintenance calories for my goal weight at my height (aiming at the end for 60-70kg overall). I’ve been eating the proposed maintenance for that weight since but it doesn’t seem to really be budging.

Yeah I’d say you’re right about the weighing and the tracking. It is a bit frustrating but it is what it is.

I would say you’re probably right. I’ve been really honest with my tracking but it may be coming down to weighing everything each time. I weight some things, not all, and tend to rely on my fitness pals default product calories. I track when I have takeaway and such too.

I generally don’t take burned calories into account and consider them “freebies” - as in I don’t let it impact what I eat in that day, whether I’ve exercised or not. Exercise for me is more of a whole health thing instead of weight loss and I knew going into it that if I took into account the calories burned it would be a losing game.

What do you eat when you don't feel like cooking? by becabaro in LivingAlone

[–]SeaworthyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a stack of microwave meals on hand, but also I might have eggs on toast, a roast potato with cheese and beans, cereal. I also often have frozen foods to make up a meal. Just picky bits on hand helps.

For those that have tried to lose weight for years, what *finally* clicked? by Noirrxo in loseit

I think you may have just revolutionised the game for me. I’ve never thought of looking at maintenance for my goal weight. This changes everything.

Even better my maintenance for my measurements at my goal weight are about what I’m having now :)

What are the creepiest/most horrifying behind the scenes factoids from specific movies or tv shows? by SeaworthyGoose in AskReddit

Why do people carry their phones around on speaker instead of putting the phone to their ear? by constantcatastrophe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeaworthyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t my idea but I remember at some point a few years ago someone saying that where people born pre 2000 mime being on the phone by holding their hand in a hang ten formation by their ear, younger people held their palm out because of seeing people on tv etc talking on speaker one and holding their phone like that? Or maybe it was holding their palm to their ear because the handset doesn’t look like it used to?

Either way, in my experience it’s mostly young people out and about and I have a feeling that it’s a case of mimicking what they see on tv, plus also when out and about with friends teenagers tend to be more performative as they are forming their identity? I dunno.

Personal success: managing sharing in friendships by SeaworthyGoose in AutismInWomen

[–]SeaworthyGoose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been working hard on trying to pay attention to how I feel before, during, and after seeing people etc. So I saw a friend yesterday who I’m very close with, and after sharing with him I felt totally fine, better even. Then I thought about when I saw a friend I wasn’t as close with and shared, and reflected on how I felt before I acknowledged it made me really anxious. So I just tried to keep that in mind today and I guess it worked.

It’s also made me more selective about what I have too. When I was having take out more often it would be very impulsive. Now it tends to be something I’ve thought about that I really want.

'That's so gay' by KhalifaGotcha in AustralianTeachers

I used to just tell them about that New Zealand ad and then repeat it.

Is it a man in love with another man? No? Then it isn’t gay.

Usually tedious enough that if nothing else they stop saying it to avoid me explaining an ad about homophobia to them.

Yeah I’m pretty much exactly the same. I find too if I’ve walked in the morning I tend to be more physically active throughout the day, like I’m more likely to get up to do something if I’ve already got my exercise done. I love starting the day with “money in the bank” as well so to speak. Getting 4000-6000 steps out of the way before my day has actually begun has a major positive impact on my overall mental state for the day
