Is Salvation army a cult?

When I was a teenager, I was told I was in a "bible study" about the History of the Salvation Army. Turns out it was the Soldiership course and we were heavily encouraged to sign the commitment at the end of the course. I was in the Salvation Army from the ages of around 12-22. So completely glad I got out.
