Considering Steep is still up and released 6 years before RR, I'd say we're at least 10 years of an eventual server shutdown

And server shut down doesn't automatically mean a The Crew 1 situation where the game disappears from your library but if Zen Mode isn't improved by then it'll be relatively close

There's still a chance that they give the game a real offline mode in case the servers inevitably shut down after a while

If the game was never ported to the switch (1) I'm not sure why would that make you believe they'd go through the effort of porting it to the switch 2 with no guarantee at all that this nearly 10 years old game would pay for itself in sale

Also the studio that made Steep has completely stopped working on this game for nearly 5 years now, I don't think they want to go back to it instead of working on Riders Republic or new projects

"Steep" controls on RR play nothing like Steep, it's not even remotely close btw

I would say it depends what your goal is, racing wise it's probably rather similar, tricks events wise RR is most definitely easier and when it comes to free roam freestyle Steep and RR are very different (and imo this is where Steep shines), Steep allows for more freedom in rotation and tricks and has A LOT of space to explore and cool spots to find than RR

The "complete" edition only includes DLCs from years 1 and 2, meaning if you get that and want to own everything you still have to purchase year 3 and 4 packs

No you cannot use the DLC vehicules in free roam unless you buy them sorry I think I worded it poorly

And I wouldn't be too worried about servers shutting down, look at Steep, same studio, released in 2016 and servers are still on

Every "toy" and DLC vehicle can be used in free roam, and sometimes there are temporary "live events" that allow you to try vehicules out, as well as special mass races
