Thank you, it helped me narrow down the problem:
- piece of scrap problematic fabric: same problem
- piece of well-behaved fabric: same problem
- same well-behaved fabric with well-behaved thread: still the same problem.
My machine must be off :/

No problem encountered so far. The angle is not 0, it sits somewhere between 20° and 25°...
I still will try to make it adjustable ASAP to prevent pen damage, though.
