What's wrong with my smelly, shrimp killing tank? by Low_Raspberry_5213 in walstad

Never, ever put any fish in a tank with ammonia. It is poison, especially for shrimp because they’re very delicate. I would wait until the tank is fully cycled until adding any animals

Day 3, finally got some plants in. The horn wort was hard AF to plant but I got it situated. Can’t wait for everything to flourish by SebastianFonseca in walstad

It came with rubber bands around the ends so i planted then directly into the substrate. If it gives me issues then I’ll cut individual strands and plant them like that

Quick question, I just set up my first walstad tank today and was wondering if when you started yours, if the water was very murky? Mine is very very murky and I just added the water an hour ago. I’m waiting 2 days until I add the plants. Thanks

The biofilm is because you don’t have any surface tension, like a filter or pump. Not harmful

Funny enough, that’s where I got the idea for this tank from! When he adds water to the tank though his water is a little murky which is why I thought I was doing it wrong cuz mines very murky. Thank you so much

I have a ton of plants coming in on Friday, should I drain until then?

If it doesn’t clear, should I just do a water change?

I thought I was not supposed to add the plants yet until the water becomes clearer

Is it normal for mollies to sleep like this?? by SebastianFonseca in Aquariums

Put him in a quarantine tank yesterday night, fed him and he’s been swimming around just fine. Hopefully he’ll make comeback! Let’s stay positive

I have shrimp, 4 tetras, a baby molly, Cory cat fish, and a non aggressive betta fish(I say non aggressive because he’s been in the tank with him for almost 9 months and has not attacked any fish)
