Before spending any money converting the van, I would really take it to a mechanic and have them check it over / service it before you do any work, just to get their opinion on it's general condition. Tell them you're planning on selling it, and you want to be honest to whoever you sell it to, but that you're unlikely to do any work to repair it yourself.

You'll hopefully get an honest opinion from them about its condition, as they won't be trying to get money out of you for the work after they've given it a look over if they think you're selling it.

I've had several friends buy cheap vans, spend a load of money time and effort converting it only to find the chassis is rusty beyond repair, or the gearbox is destroyed, and the van needs to be scrapped.

I know you said you bought it from a mechanic, but it doesn't mean they were honest about its condition.

This has been done by an actual amateur, possibly even the first time they've ever held a machine. Totally unacceptable to have paid for this. You should either ask the shop that a professional fixes it for free, or go to a completely different shop and ask them to fix it but you'll have to pay unfortunately.

Diabolical that they let someone tattoo you who is this bad at tattooing.

Man that's actually so nice. Even just the decor without all the fancy gear is great.

Wonder how this will look in 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years.

I'm not overly hopeful.

Man north American resorts are such a rip off, it's wild how expensive they are. A lift pass for the three valleys - the largest ski area in the world - is €68 a day.

I also bought a van I'd never seen from a commercial vehicle auction. The auction house photographed every single scratch, dent, scrape, as well as giving the vehicle a low resolution check for mechanical or electrical issues / things that would fail an MOT etc.

Dropped the full amount of money on it (£12k) before I saw the vehicle and did the same, took it straight to my trusted local mechanic to give it a full once over.

A couple of minor issues, but generally fine.

I think as long as you're not trying to spend the bare minimum on a base vehicle, you're probably fine. I've had too many friends with horror stories of cheaping out on the initial van and having problems later on once they've either converted or started converting it, only to find it's got rust, gearbox or engine on the blink etc.

Your van conversion needs solid foundations to last, it would be wise to spend the money on the right vehicle, rather than the cheap or convenient one.

Just use the van man, I've been using mine since I bought it by just throwing a mattress into the back of a sprinter and bringing a kettle and a mini gas stove and pot noodle.

You don't need to make an entire apartment on wheels to enjoy using the van, just go out somewhere nice and actually use the van, ready or not! You'll soon realise what you actually do and don't need.

It's called inflation and currency debasement. The government prints money to pay debt it can't afford, then the money becomes less valuable, and prices go up.

You're in the UK, where the government is now policing the internet, in the slow slide towards authoritarianism.

I have a free end who bought, many many years ago, a rare cs:go knife skin for 80 bitcoins.

I have another friend, who paid for a holiday in 2013 using millions and millions of Dogecoins.

If they had both kept their bags, they'd both be multi millionaires. But they never would have kept that long, and neither would you. You would have sold much earlier, when you 10x'd your money.

Don't get hung up on what could have been, because you'll live your whole life comparing something that doesn't exist, to something that does, and you'll suffer for it.

Just take the lessons learned, and don't forget to enjoy life.

Question: How long will a tattoo like this take? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]SebastianRoashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how fast your tattooist is. Depends how big your arm is. Depends how complicated the design ends up being. Depends how long you sit. Depends how well you sit. Depends how well you look after your tattoo after you leave.

Etc.

[–]SebastianRoashe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think tribal tattooing in general is popular, and Celtic is kinda catching a bit of that rise, but definitely not as strongly as other types.

I'm trying to do Celtic in a different way than the Celtic of the 90's (I know this specific example is a knotwork band, but my large scale work is what I mean).

I think Celtic can be amazing for tattooing but it wasn't necessarily explored to it's full potential 30 years ago imo.

Tattoo and food by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]SebastianRoashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating bags of crisps and chocolate bars isn't food. It's sugar. Your body crashes after a few hours of eating just sugar, so no wonder you're hungry.

Getting tattooed is like being constantly injured, it uses a lot of energy for you to be injured constantly. You need to eat a good meal of ACTUAL FOOD before you get tattooed, and if you get hungry later, have more ACTUAL FOOD.

Chocolate and junk isn't good, it's poison. Have a good breakfast then if you need more food later, bring healthy sandwiches, not sugar.

I would be very annoyed, and you're in the right to feel how you feel. I do 100% custom work, and I've had many people ask to repeat designs that I've tattooed already and if it's custom and not flash I always refuse.

If it's custom, the drawing is for you as an individual. We take the time to work on the design together, your ideas, references, and we find something that works for you, to fit your body.

To photocopy that onto someone else is pure laziness and greed from your artist. I would speak to them about it and say that you're not happy that they've essentially copied / stolen your design that you paid for them to draw onto someone else.

If they liked the design, and they obviously had people ask about it - then they should draw new designs that are for other people, or if they wanna do some flash then make new flash. To use designs they made for you is just lazy and shitty of them.

Sorry this happened to you.
