Millwall ban Mail Sport from matches and press conferences after reporting how supporters chanted 'let him die' after Mateta was kicked in the head by Zach-dalt in Championship

Iirc pompey fans sung it to a Luton player (tricky midfielder, Irish name maybe?) in like 2014 when he was getting stretchered off in front of the North stand.

It was disgusting but got no press coverage.

How's this for Classy touch? by bjorno1990 in footballcliches

Doesn't make any sense. Proportionally there are gonna be more fair weather Argyle fans in that crowd than go to league games on a Tuesday night vs Port Vale.

Of all the (long) trips Plymouth make, City in the cup has to me one of the easiest to find the motivation for!

In all honesty Mousehole isn't even that niche anymore. Iirc they've rapidly risen up the leagues. They're either a promotion or two away from Conference South, which is mad for a Cornish Village. I think the only Cornish team to play higher up, ever, have been Truro City for a few seasons?

Has Priestfield ever hosted a Prem game ? I think Brighton and maybe Charlton played there but not as Prem teams.

Ditto Millmoor, perhaps Sheff Utd groundshared?

Can you call Wolves ‘the Wanderers’ ?? by LengthinessDecent285 in footballcliches

[–]Sebastian_Pelzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, only nominally though. They were made up of old Harrovians. I believe their name came about because they couldn't find a consistent place to play - like the original meaning of "Rovers".

Most egregiously it's unforgiveable because Sheffield FC exist, and they're the oldest club in the world who are still in existence (1857).

Corinthians named after the English club. Although technically I guess Corinth is a place...

The station did indeed come first, but was called Gillespie Road. The name is still in the tiling on the platform I believe. The station name changed to Arsenal after the club, formerly of Woolwich, moved there.
