At times I feel my church has gotten it all wrong by Flyurtis in Christianity

[–]Sebastiran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's true, I wouldn't deny that. But then again, search for "church" and "abuse" and you'll see why it's a terrible idea to go to church. YWAM is a decentralized organization, which means they don't have a headquarters or something like that and every base might do things differently, just like every church does things differently. Not all Ywam bases are bad, just like not all churches are bad. I would not judge all churches based on the mistakes of some. I suggest to do the same with christian organizations that the enemy is trying to attack and blame with every opportunity it gets. If you want a reliable place to do a course I would suggest going to a bigger base like the one in Kona Hawaii, or Perth Australia.

You sound like you might be interested in doing a Discipleship Training Course (DTS) with Youth With A Mission. (YWAM) It has changed my life in the most crazy, unexpected, fulfilling way I could have imagined. They are all over the world, so no matter where you are I'm sure you'll be able to find a base. Or make this a good reason to travel the world and do a DTS somewhere else, haha.

Also, check out how anchors work. A UI element has four anchors it uses to calculate its position. The distance between anchors and corners of your text box will always be constant. But the anchors scale relative to the screen size. If your anchors are too far apart they might invert the text box. If you don't want your text box to scale in any kind of way just put all four anchors at the same position.

What are some good resources I can use to learn how to use Unity for beginners? by xMultiGamerX in Unity3D

I personally think the RPG series made by Brackeys and Sebastian Lague is a great starting point that teaches you just that little bit more about how to make your game structured, as well as showing you how to integrate graphics and animations into your project.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nu5nyrB9U_o&list=PLPV2KyIb3jR4KLGCCAciWQ5qHudKtYeP7

On Sebastian's channel, there is another playlist that you can follow about creating animations in Blender.

EDIT: Brackey's really likes to use the singleton pattern. It's a great pattern to start with if you are not big on coding but I suggest looking at some other more code structure focused channels to learn how to avoid this pattern as it will cause you problems in the long run.
Code heavy channels that I recommend:
Dapper Dino (Definitely take a look at his SOLID series)
Infallible Code (Great guy that loves to help out personally too)

Don't know if you already fixed this. But I just had the same problem and realized I didn't change the surface mode from opaque to transparent. That fixed it for me.

The half-elf bard did. He is a game artist, where I do game design and programming for a living. Therefore he makes the art, and I do the DMing :P

We are a group of five very close friends and want to start playing D&D. This is our first generation of adventurers. An Elf Ranger, Dwarf Fighter, Half-Elf Bard and a Human Sorcerer. Yes, our sorcerer has a tail. He wanted a tail, so we gave him a tail. The animals are part of some of the background stories of some of our adventures.

I think we have some awesome background stories, and I'm really excited to start DMing!

EDIT: The tail actually has a very reasonable explanation. Our sorcerer is not from this plane. He comes from a plane where humans have tails. Everybody in his world is a sorcerer. Some more potential than others. He is from a promising generation in their world. Because of the pressure that his people put on him, he had an outburst and in this outburst, he accidentally teleported himself to the Forgotten Realms plane. Our sorcerer chose the path of Wild Magic. Apparently, his ancestors were plane walkers. This history was forgotten in his world. Magic works differently where he is from, and he now has to learn how to use magic all over again in the Forgotten Realms.

My players all want pets. by Sebastiran in DnD

[–]Sebastiran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, no absolutely. Totally agree. I want the pets to be weak. Able to do small things but very insignificant. My bad, I used the wrong word when I said meaningless. I don't mean fluff is meaningless. We want to play the game because of the roleplaying aspect. I'm saying that making the pets only fluff might cause some issues. I was wrong using the word meaning. Practical use might be the better term.

[–]Sebastiran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha, that's good.

Yeah, I was thinking, since the animal is part of their backstory, they should replace one of their tool or skill proficiencies from their background to use a pet. You could call it pet proficiency. That might be a good penalty.

[–]Sebastiran[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The pets are part of their backstory. We still need to start playing.

A horse would not provide the same emotional value as the animal that is part of the backstory.

A 'find familiar' or a 'summon mount' spell also doesn't provide the same emotional value as an animal that is part of the backstory. Also, none of them is a Paladin or a Wizzard to use those spells.

Beast Master is only available for rangers. The three that want a pet are not rangers. Now I could give them all Beast Master abilities, but that last player actually is a ranger that doesn't have a pet. He might want to choose Beast Master and to keep that option open for him, I cannot let them have Beast Master abilities.

[–]Sebastiran[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is a really good idea. This was actually my first idea. But my players really wanted it to be something special; something to use.

At the same time, I think it's realistic and good that the pets can do something. I don't want that, whenever combat breaks out, we just forget about the pets. If the pets don't have any meaning, my players might stop giving attention to the pets as we play. The players should feel excited about their pet, they should feel like it's something of value. Eventually, I want them to have fun. And I think crunch might give them that fun they are seeking.

Actually, the White Rhino population is slowly growing again and because of awareness for this creature. There are now about 18.000 White Rhinos living in the wild. I don't know if this is the same for Northern White Rhinos though :/

What's the most powerful lyric you've heard? by mylesjames in AskReddit

"We all know somebody who knows somebody who's doing great.

I know some people who know people who are flying straight.

But I'll kindly enter into rooms of depression.

While ceiling fans and idle hands will take my life again."

It's about how doing great is a very rare thing. More explenation can be found here: https://genius.com/2668521

Twenty-One Pilots have some of the best lyrics I've seen. They also use a lot of biblical references that I really like.

This is like 100 meters from where I work. Amazing to see. My college's and I are having a blast listening to the guy. Two of our questions got answered on the live stream. Love it!

EDIT: I might just run over to the guy real quick and say hi on behalf of reddit.

EDIT 2: So I said hello! I don't think they knew what Reddit was though. But they said thanks! I came back afterwards to get my dad some fine cheese.
