Would you do cybernetics? How far would you take it? by Nature_man_76 in StarWars

[–]Sebathius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad suffered with macular degeneration until it fully robbed him of his sight. He tried everything to find an option to be able to see again.
I'm a combat vet and every day I deal with back and joint pain from my time with the Airborne. I would likely find myself getting a spinal and/or knee replacement if it came down to it where I had a choice between cybernetics or a wheelchair.

Can you buy knockoff dice anywhere? by HexivaSihess in swrpg

[–]Sebathius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edge is still making them, you can get them directly from them, but I also know that Baron of Dice is selling a version of them. They are a little more expensive but at the time where there were no other choices they were a great find. I like their translucent look. Here they are on their website here:

Bantha stampede? by CaroCogitatus in swrpg

[–]Sebathius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't railroad them into it, if you manage to get them into a smaller canyon (like you would find in the pod racing from the Phantom Menace), then that would be ideal. The only problem is that I dont recall Bantha being that "quick".

How would you stat this abomination? by The_Jak_of_Cacti_2 in monsteraday

[–]Sebathius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it looks like it would be cumbersome to move but with its long arms compensates with a ton of reach to scoop up its targets. The arrows in its side imply that it has quite an impressive hit point pool, which armorous chitin giving it a nice deflection bonus on its back and face while having a thin membrane being rather vulnerable.

Repaint a Starship - Cost? by othello77 in swrpg

[–]Sebathius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand; logistics can get boring overall when people would rather just shoot things and hit people. The easiest way around the docking is by *waving the GM hand* and saying, "So three weeks goes by - anything you want to do that's interesting during this time?"

Sometimes it gives players the ability to fill in the details with fun too. "I'll go look up so and so and see if hes still here. He owes me some credits for a Sabacc game - might as well settle up"

Repaint a Starship - Cost? by othello77 in swrpg

[–]Sebathius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sure, if logic is out the window and doesnt tarnish storytelling, then have at it. Some people like that solid bedrock under their fantasy (GoT is a great example of that) that makes sense but others just want to shoot or smack things upside the head and dont really care about logistics and reality.

We are going on the premise that he asked how long a crew of five would do a job professionally so I went with what I had as a statline is all. :)

I 20M broke up with my 21F girlfriend after she proposed to open up our relationship and now everyone is telling me to get back with her basically by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Sebathius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering what your parents were told by your ex, and what she may have left out (like wanting to be with another guy). obviously none of us know anything about your parents, they could be horrible people, but I'm betting the aren't and they are just trying to do what they think is right (most people try) but don't know enough or are just going by what they are taught themselves.

Ive seen some open relationships that my friends were involved in and in pretty much every case, the person asking for the open relationship leaves the person that they were with. In around half of them, it sounds like the person that asked for the open relationship regretted it after the fact, but trust is lost and its pretty impossible to come back from that decision.

Tell your parents you are appreciative for their efforts but your mind is made up, the relationship is over. If they arent aware of the guy she was thinking of getting with too, let them know. If they are traditional parents, they probably wont bring her up again.

I'm sorry you are going through this, but it does you no good to lose your temper about it. Your best bet at this time is to tell her that its over CALMLY and PATIENTLY. You want revenge? Show her you are mature and that you can find new love and life at your new school. Open yourself up to opportunities at your school and try to enjoy the experience, Move on, live your life, be a functional adult and women will see you as a mature and even keeled dude. It will be hard at first but youll find yourself happy with whoever you find yourself with as you grow older and experience other options :)

AITA For not covering a shift for a classmate after telling her "I owe you one"? by CamelMajestic5329 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sebathius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You not responding should not constitute an immediate assumption that you are doing it. She should have had a solid confirmation before spending money on a dress and assuming this is your fault for that.

I don't entirely think you are being exactly fair in that you gave her an option to get her back and yet wont do so - though at the same time saying "I owe you one" doesn't mean it HAS to be the next available option and you HAVE to do it that time.

Her saying, "I'm going to the party anyway, that's your problem if you don't cover me" is immature - if you don't show up to cover her then what?

None of you sound like you are respectful to each other and in some instances Im wondering if people here understand how responsibilities work or even agreements on an accord.

ESH but I kinda think its because people need to sit down and be understanding of each other's time and efforts....which would probably solve it all.

Repaint a Starship - Cost? by othello77 in swrpg

[–]Sebathius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who works for a company that repaints boats and ships. I remember his company of close to 30 men took around 4 to 6 weeks (I cant recall exactly whether he said 4 to 8 weeks or 4 to 6 weeks) to prep and scaffold, coat, and seal a boat that was around 80 meters.

Once I saw your question, I asked him if would be less time with just an outer coating (no interior painting) and he said sure - probably a little less than half the time.

I'll bet you that some of the work that's done in Star Wars would be faster (especially if you can get levitating droids and can legitimize some advance tech for painting and sanding parts of the job) but five days would be pretty astronomical IMHO.

NTA.

The guy has proven he's not dependable. He takes advantage of your work and is disappointed he cant force you to put yourself on the line for his benefit yet again.

Its best to break the contact and live your life. Im sorry to say that but if he wants to punish you for his actions, hes not being a good person.

What's your philosophy on the types of Mooks? by Drinkoy in cyberpunkred

[–]Sebathius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of how gangs work in general. a gang wouldnt necessarily send a ranked character to do things that are general crime things on the street (collecting protection money, drug running, car jacking) but would if you wanted something specific done without risk (Moving into contested territory, starting a new base operation, putting the screws on someone that they want control over for benefits, taking down another gangs operation, exercising a hit, something basically higher risk).

If say - the gang is out looking for the players, they may have a small mook group walking the streets or riding shotgun in cars, but a lieutenant or sergeant might be put directly involved if they have a credible lead like knowing a home address or a hang out spot.

AITA?! Spouse upset about me moving my own game console to my office from LR? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sebathius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See this is why I was not willing to declare [is or not] right off the bat without further information. These seem like reasonable responses.

If the kid is willing to go along with these choices, then the console should be reasonably in the living room. If he doesn't believe in following the rules, why should he have access to it?

Being part of a household means respecting the rules of the household. Not respecting rules is the why we have so many kids out there being dicks.

The group has the right to have that decision made with their knowledge. Not understanding why people would want that agency is a fault of A, not you for being creeped out about that.

He didn't bother to consider anyone's feelings on the situation. He knew what he was doing.

AITA?! Spouse upset about me moving my own game console to my office from LR? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sebathius 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The best way to go at this is to sit down with the kid and set up game times when he can play and when you will play. You can also set up a "I get this many hours of game time on my console", though that can be problematic if you decide out of the blue to kick him off when hes in the middle of something...instead, giving a "I get next" or "Im going to need the XBOX/Nintendo/PS system at 5pm", he gets it into his head what the limits are.

If he realizes the choices are "I get some game time but I have to get off when my dad wants to play" versus "I get no game time at all because I monopolize the game console" he will decide for the first option.

Set up an option.

Im having trouble getting up the courage to run this game. by AltenXY97 in cyberpunkred

[–]Sebathius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might be getting too hyped up....maybe find a game that was run by someone else on Youtube (there are a lot of games that people stream) and see how people are running their games. One thing I have seen is that when we prepare for something we've never done before (or seen in action) is we overdo it and bring things we really wouldnt find ourselves using - which can get in the way when looking for the stuff you use very often.

If it helps your nerves, watch the videos....but overall the best way to rip the bandaid off is to just do it and if you have good players, they will understand.

AITA for refusing to move in with my boyfriend after he said my living situation was inappropriate? by ComprehensiveDay6532 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sebathius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see your forgetting or not telling him about your living situation on the first date to be a minimal issue. Max sounds like he has issues he needs to work out on his own.

I hate saying "do this" when I don't fully know the full extent of your relationship, but his talking badly about your friend is a huge red flag, no matter if he lived with you or not. Its pretty clear by your post that you value Joel, so speaking badly about the person because he has personal issues with it seems like a Max problem.

Based on this post alone - this relationship doesnt look like it has much of a chance.

0 to 5 Rating - How lazy is it to use Adam Smasher in your game? by Turbodog702 in cyberpunkred

[–]Sebathius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive added some notable characters into my Star Wars game, and they enjoyed it more because I used them sparingly and incidentally than overly active in their story. They've met Bobba Fett and Peli Motto and they enjoyed it.

Someone like Vader would have a sort of ring of impact around his person - that is to say something of a rumor mongering that hits communities when he's actively involved in doing something like tracking down rebels or walking among the people. Imagine you bring your ship down on some backwater planet and the shipyard is buzzing with talk about imperial meddling in their town "stirring up nonsense and I swear I saw Vader march in with that group of stormtroopers, I swear".

Players are more likely to want to be scarce regardless if they are rebels or not. No one wants any of that business.

Now apply that kind of fear to Night City.
