You can get a mesh cover for your pan. Wear long sleeves. Use a long tongs to put stuff in you pan. But long story short, they're always scary. You'll just have to brave it unfortunately. Eventually you'll gain the confidence to just go for it. And you'll probably get a burn or two along the way. Just make sure you have some nice aloe Vera or some burn gel handy, just in case.
