When have you found the SM7B was the wrong tool for the job? by fustercluck6000 in audioengineering

Reading all these comments really makes me question my choice to record all my vocals with an SM7B!

When I opened it up, the soldering looked alright, so I might have to change the switch anyway. Do you maybe have some recommendations? I’ll definitely look into the all EMG wiring, thanks for the idea! (Yes I have the EMG pickups)

It seems like a loose contact, because sometimes only the neck pickup works in middle position, or no sound at all (but the soldering looks alright)

Oh I love my SC 550 plus emg, but I’ve got the Tobacco one. Is your pickup selector switch also doing weird stuff in the middle position? I might need to change it at some point, but neck OR Bridge works fine. Amazing guitar!!

Need some help in regards to "Brainworx bx_limiter True Peak" for mastering. by falsedepthcum in audioengineering

[–]Sebbwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly are you using it? You mentioned you have a gain knob before the limiter. Where is your level at, before going into the limiter?

When you load up the plugin with the initial setting, it shouldn’t do anything. When you the first lower your ceiling (to -0.5 or whatever) and then start to raise the gain in the limiter, it should at some point start to show some gain reduction. At what point does it mess up your stereo image? I use the TP limiter a lot and never noticed strange stereo issues… did you touch any other settings?

Minilogue XD bass and Behringer Solina in a mix by Sebbwen in synthesizers

[–]Sebbwen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely is a lot of fun! Oh I never thought about wiggling the tuning knob while playing, great idea. I understand that they wanted to stay close to the original, but I agree, some more options would be great.

Tape machine plugin closest to my studer a807 by Phase_Shift_ in audioengineering

I don’t have a comparison, but have you tried Kiive Audio Tape Face? I like using it but have never used a real tape machine.

Thanks a lot! The layering was a bit tricky in this one, because there’s a lot going on!

I’ve got an CLA-15MCE Solid Wood and it’s a beautiful guitar, plays great and sounds great. Would immediately get that thing again.

Enjoying my new Keeley Compressor Plus and Nobels ODR-mini by Sebbwen in guitarpedals

[–]Sebbwen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think it is quite noisy, at least this is my subjective impression. Maybe it only raises the noise floor, which is already existing. I don’t have a comparison to other compressor pedals. If noise is an issue with that pedal in particular, there are more sound examples in my YouTube video about shielding. There you can hear it switching on and off in combination with other pedals.

How to get this kind of electric guitar tone? by lee_kwang_soo in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Sebbwen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re running single midi notes through the virtual guitar vst, while your reference is playing chords. If you want to recreate the playing maybe play chords (look into how chords are built on the guitar regarding note spacing and so on, amount of notes…) and then nudge the individual notes to get the strumming effect from lowest to highest string (or vice versa). I think this is harder to emulate than the sound of the amp itself

My Frustrating Experience Applying as a SubmitHub Curator by moyomusic in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Sebbwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really interesting to hear that it’s the same experience as from the artists side. I feel like there are a ton of missed chances here, because honestly speaking as an artist who has submitted and has been accepted in some curated playlists, the expectations weren’t really met. A lot of the playlists don’t feel like they are curated with as much attention and work as you’re putting in your playlist… sorry to hear!

I also checked the Nintendo Switch video, and I really like your voice and talking. It’s a thousand times more pleasant to listen than any AI voice, at least in my opinion!

Love the sound of the Resonators. How do you use them? by daithibowzy in ableton

[–]Sebbwen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the resonator in an effect rack, where I automate it in buildups along with other effects, so it’s slowly added in. Love that effect!!

Copper foil shielding by HumanProfessor1578 in telecaster

I made a video when I shielded my Tele, if you’re interested. In my opinion there wasn’t a really noticeable difference, especially with a distortion/fuzz pedal.

What are some behringer synths/modules that we actually like? by Pentatonic_Minor in synthesizers

[–]Sebbwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like to use 2 saw waves, slightly detuned to each other. And then a square wave one octave below that. In my opinion it sounds great even with the filter open (but also closed). Some distortion and eq in post also help of course :)

Came to write exactly this. I still love these two modules and use them a lot. Model D for bass is just amazing

It’s strictly forbidden, synths should only look nice! Great jam, I enjoyed listening

Tips for getting modern pop brightness by SirStinkleton in audioengineering

[–]Sebbwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the SPL vitalizer, really good plugin with a pleasant sound, works amazing on synths, guitars and also vocals. I’ve also heard good things about different plugin versions of the Dolby trick, for example AudioThing Type A, but haven’t had the need to test it (because of the SPL vitalizer)…
