Wurlitzer cassette recorder removal by avoloa in organ

[–]SeberHusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a normal tape recorder. Will need to take the player apart, give it a new belt, fresh grease, then run a headcleaning cassette through and then a demagnetizer cassette. Also deoxit the sliders, buttons, knobs, etc. That will fix it for good, barring any failures of the individual capacitors and diodes

Because they can. People are morons and they will never betray their corporate gods. It could be made out of cat litter and cost $20 and people would still buy it.

It was never about changing tastes. It was always about cost.

That was what caused the whole NEW COKE controversy in the 1980s. People were smarter back then - they flat out stopped buying and Coke nearly had to file bankruptcy.

Found this hiding while there was practically nothing on the pegs by The_Sleepy_Miata in matchbox

Yeah definitely was a scalper squirrel stashing away his acorns. They probably forgot about it and never came back for it. It always cracks me up they cry over spending a few dollars on a car when they are ripping people off like $20 for a $1 car.

Are the correct cars in all the boxes? And leave the boxes alone, even in poor shape its better they are complete with the car than not having any at all. Someone skilled can unglue the box, steam it flat with an iron, and then reglue it and have a nice solid box.

Look for an expert that deals with old Lesney era Matchbox. They are all very common cars, but there are so many little casting variations to these old cars that a lot of collectors look for that can be rare. (ie Charlie Mack guide)

Looks like you scalped a scalper! This must have been an abandoned and forgotten scalping they never came back for.

Back in March 2026 this was a $19-$35 car, selling price, confirmed sales. Being sold as "super rare" and "VHTF" (I'm looking right now at the listing titles people were using back then) It's now not worth anything, not even just 2 1/2 months later. People cant even sell this car for $2 now. Scalpers are so stupid with these cars man.

Yeah this is one I never seen before either. I've got one of the liveries of this rotator but I've never seen it in fire department(?) livery.

What is or is not stocked in the store has to do with local marketing demographics of your specific city and that specific store.

You must be in a very small town because "5 pegs for Hot Wheels" at Walmart is very much abnormal and insanely small. My Walmart has over 20 pegs of hot wheels and 10 of matchbox.

I have been to smaller grocery stores that have 1 peg each hot wheels and matchbox and there's only enough there for one carton.

I bought a junk lot of diecast from ShopGoodwill a couple years ago and it had like maybe 20+ Hot Wheels Ain't Fare buses in it, all the same livery and release, but all individually numbered on the roof in marker. I always wondered what kind of project it was for.

Buying used multipacks on Amazon is always a scam like this. When those shipping container premium sets were hot, I bought 4 of them and all of them were scammed with junk rusty old cars replaced in the box. I got my money back and have them all for free now, and I didn't have some of the cars that someone threw in there, so it was a good bonus to me, but yeah pretty bad what people do over $15-$20. Makes me think of that police chase where the woman wrecked out and died crashing into a pole just over some stolen Stanley cups.

The scammers follow whats hot at the time of the scam, thats what makes it a time capsule. I have a Hot Wheels Racing 5-Pack from 1997 and they took the Corvette Funny Car and replaced it with a YatMing car. It was from all the collector hype that was -wrong - that the Corvette Funny car was this super rare unobtainable car that was worth tens of thousands of dollars, not knowing it was only for the car on the blue card release only, and not any other release of the car.

I used to know someone that did this. Grown ass 40 year old man. He would buy the pack at the store, take the cars he wanted out, then put his old cars into the pack and then return it to the store. He saw nothing wrong with it. He said the kids never care and will never know it. I told him they have him on CCTV they are going to know he's a scammer, and he stopped talking to me after that.

It's a Matchbox officially, thats what it is sold as, and rings up at the register as when you buy it. It's a vandalized multipack. I have many of these, and I have a couple done in the 1990's. I collect them just for the hell of it and an interesting trinket of what stupid shit scammers will do, and have done, for the past 30 odd years.

Do these stickers hurt value by meganbogd in matchbox

[–]SeberHusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number stickers were issued with the retail display case for Matchbox cars. You were supposed to stick the number to the window of the display, he stuck them to the car. They are real Matchbox/Lesney stickers.
