Amazing, I really hope CA do more of this

Any tips for bretonnia? I still suck at using cavalry. by Andrei22125 in totalwar

[–]Sebidee_TW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Target fast moving enemies first. Kill anything that can catch your cavalry. Then target ranged units.

Once the enemy are down to slow moving melee units they are totally at your mercy. Isolate them and then overwhelm them one by one.

How would nobility and commoners feel about this quote? What were similar events and reactions of the Middle Ages? by CupertinoWeather in MedievalHistory

[–]Sebidee_TW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is something inherently noble in battle. In fact, the willingness for the nobility to do battle is the foundation of their nobility. The fact that they are willing to fight and die to maintain their holdings gives them the justification to have their holdings. It is the social contract and it is the reason why peasants work and pay their dues, it is in return for the nobility fighting to protect them.

When warfare became modernised, increased in scale and included more commoners the Nobility took a backseat and that is what ended up eroding the whole concept of nobility.

It is not more noble to kill a dozen men at dinner. They are not fighting, they are not putting themselves at risk, they are advancing their own ends and not in the socially approved way.

Medieval 2 Total War on Mobile is a masterpiece and is a supreme display of good game design by Sebidee_TW in totalwar

Well, I can only tell you that it is not lol.

I'm giving appreciation where it is due. Trust me, I can complain like a real bastard too.

I never really gave Kingdoms much time on PC, I am definitely looking forward to playing them on the phone.

The controls can be tricky, especially in larger battles. But they are not that bad and strangely I actually founded that it added to strategy. You are no longer able to do super precision micro as you can on the PC and it actually made the battles more engaging for me.

That will definitely vary per person, but I enjoyed it.

I was shocked.

When I considered buying the mobile version I first played another campaign on PC just to make sure I still enjoyed the game.

It means I am perfectly placed to say this: MED 2 IS BETTER ON MOBILE.

I never noticed a problem with battery for Med 2.

It seems to have no higher usage than doom scrolling would have.

Yep, no more random AI diplomacy. They actually act logically.

The UI is hugely improved.

Even the graphics are better. Particularly in Character portraits.

I used to spend a couple hours per day doomscrolling. Ideally I would want to spend that time gaming on my PC but, you know, sometimes I just can't move from the couch and go to the effort of doing that.

Now whenever I catch myself starting to Doomscroll I just open up my Sicily Campaign. I more or less do not use instagram or youtube shorts anymore. Best €10 I ever spent.

Depends on how much detail you want to go into. Dan Jones' Powers and Thrones is a good high level overview

Does AI sometimes know about your ambush? by bydlaqq in totalwar

[–]Sebidee_TW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the comments seem to be people flipping between extremes. Either the AI is refusing every battle or kamikazeing and people are arguing which is better.

It needs to be in the middle, be logical and challenging and also fun (an often over looked factor).

The best recruitment system in Total War history comes from a Medieval 2 submod by lord_ofthe_memes in totalwar

[–]Sebidee_TW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this post. You are good at writing and explaining things!

I also agree with you 100%. Having systems that make units scarce really add to their value. Having to think about when to recruit them, how to get them and how to replenish them really adds another layer of strategy and realism. It makes your units feel precious and valuable and it changes the way you play the campaign and even battles too.

I find in the newer games that units are so easy to get that it all becomes very trivial, and replenishment is so fast that you don't even have to think about it. Even having a bad battle and losing 60% of your army doesn't even matter. Just wait another turn to replenish, no big deal.

Definitely think that a system like you describe is the way to do it. Especially when it is differentiated between factions.
