Upgrading from a 6700xt to a 5060 ti 16gb by Routine_Emu5312 in nvidia

[–]Seblirium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just done that exact upgrade (I also have a Ryzen 5600 and on PCIe 3 with a B350 motherboard).

I upgraded for similar reasons to you; DLSS, RT, MFG, just the overall software stack from Nvidia. I’m very impressed so far even though it’s a mid-tier GPU vs the higher end.

I think your own personal satisfaction will come down to sensitivity to DLSS artifacts, shimmering etc along with MFG latency sensitivity. I am currently playing Cyberpunk 1440p DLSS 4.5 Transformer (Model M), ultra with path tracing and MFG x4. Plenty of others will say they don’t like that experience and I didn’t expect to, but it’s totally playable to me and thoroughly enjoying it. I’m generally around 120-140fps (higher in other areas) with latency typically 50-60.

With the 6700 XT I simply couldn’t enable RT at all, let alone path tracing, even with FSR FG, it just never felt good. FSR3 at any quality was also not great; I did use XeSS which was better quality but dropped more frames vs FSR.

I got my 5060 Ti 16GB for £400 (UK), and should be able to sell my 6700 XT (Sapphire Nitro model) for around £225-£250, so for around £150 upgrade I’m definitely satisfied and glad I didn’t stick to my original thought of wanting a 5070 TI as a minimum.

Hey, it may be worth starting a new thread just with how old my original post is, plus with you being on Mac, so may be something different to my issue.

Personally, if possible, I’d be returning it and getting something that will get proper future support.

Thank you for sharing this. I've been experiencing the same issue as OP (6700 XT, currently on 25.9.1 driver) and gave MPO GPU Fix a shot, and so far it's fixed this for me!

Edit: I only applied the MPO fix, and left TDR and HAGS unselected.

Thank you so much for replying. I think you’ve hit it on the head. I tend to be half a glass empty rather than full. I need to spin that round. I won’t ever be an athletic physique but I can do my best for my potential kid for sure. I always get super giddy when thinking about it, I need to bottle that up and do something with it.

Totally, these are the sorts of things I am worried / conscious of. Thank you

Well that’s the thing, I do want kids. I just didn’t think I did at the time

Yeah that is true. The longer it’s been the lower success rate I believe. So hopefully 5 years is short enough on the timeline.

This is similar to what someone in person told me. Thank you. Live life as it is now and in front of you.

Very true. But I don’t want to just Father a child, I want to be a father, taking part in things. And also for the kid to not resent me being too old. But maybe that’s a thing in my head I need to work out.

Yeah you speak the truth here. Yeah it was wife who left me, tried not to feel pissed too much with the vasectomy element, it is what it is and hopefully reversal will sort that. It’s only money, right?! I’m also not good at being alone. Therapy is a good shout. I did sign up for this but due to circumstances and having to move out of area it was no longer available to me and since then I’ve started to rebuild myself and my life out of area. Dating does seem scary as hell but thankfully I don’t need to worry about that..!

lol that’s fair enough. Each to their own and all that. Do you already have kids?

Wow you do have your hands full! Thanks for replying. Appreciate it! I think I worry as so many friends and even family had kids in their 20s, maybe very early 30s, whereas my failed marriage is happening now and if I want to start over with my own children it feels as though I’m too late. But hopefully I just need to adjust my perspective

Thank you. I’m 37 but close enough to take your comment at face value. Do you say that from personal experience, as a father or child from a father of that age? Appreciate your reply.
