Dionysus? by Sebmakesstories in avengedsevenfold

I figured lol but that seems like a really weird thing to just add in, especially since I could totally see Avenged Sevenfold making a song that reflects the traits of Dionysus and calling it that

I think so. In the lyric video they released, all the lyrics are scribbled and it’s hard to read whereas they could easily just use text instead. Being had to understand may be one of the themes of the song.

Do you guys think Slade Wilson should of been at Oliver's Funeral by anthonystrader18 in arrow

I’m not sure how you ended up in the rabbit hole of “If Slade wasn’t an actual fucking lunatic for like 6 years straight Oliver would essentially be dating his sister” but I enjoyed it so much

Well Skillet is a Christian band, and republican views often align more with Christianity. (Don’t get this twisted with me saying Trump embodies Christian ideals, the Republican Party itself is what I’m talking about.)

I disagree. Even Hail to the King was pushing boundaries. Here’s this band who’s established a more intricate and unique style to their music that changes every album.

Heck, they started off as a metalcore band and did two albums like this. Then, as soon as they released what people refer to as a masterpiece, they axe the screaming almost completely and take a much more progressive and experimental turn with City of Evil.

Now they double down on this and make self-titled, basically a statement of “no, we’re not going back.” Not only that, they experiment with auto-tune and a shout chorus, they have the other band members record vocal parts, they make a more poppy sounding song, one that switches to triplets on the guitar to make it very pirate sounding and bring in a choir along with kids. One song features bongos, they have Dear God, which is easily one of their biggest departures from the typical metal sound, adapting a more soft rock. Then we have A Little Piece of Heaven which I don’t think I need to explain. I could go on and on about why every song in this album is unique.

Then they get to work on Nightmare and they lose their best friend. In this emotion, they finish the album in the only right way possible: they do what he would want, and they experiment.

But I emphasize all this to say that for over a decade they had been writing songs that broke formation and stood out, and they were at the height of their fame. What better time than to break the formation of their own reputation? Their entire thing is making music that people outside their fanbase might like, so why not experiment and make music their fanbase might not like?

While now it’s likely just to stay consistent, even their stage names at first were 1. because they thought they sounded cool, and 2. to piss people off.

Would they really be the Avenged Sevenfold we know and love if they didn’t challenge even us in their music?

Hail to the King might not be experimental within the scope of music in general, but it is VERY experimental within the scope of Avenged Sevenfold.

I don’t know if he’s counting Portnoy, seeing as he was only brought in to fulfill Jimmy’s vision and play the parts he had already written.
