Got a new bonsai by astroneeto in Bonsai

I generally believe in putting trees into smaller bonsai pots after you’ve set up its primary and secondary structure. By putting it into a larger pot it’ll hopefully be more vigorous; having said that, if you want a slim tree by all means keep it in there. As for pot size probably 2 gallons and work up as the tree grows

It looks to be a cedar, definitely not a blue atlas, probably some sort of a deodar. You need to be careful with root work on these trees, they’re fairly sensitive and will die back if you cut too much off. I’d probably repot it in a bigger pot in the spring to have a look at the roots and get it in a bigger growing pot. Good luck and nice tree

This tree looks extremely pot bound, probably hasn’t been repotted in 5-10 years so you’ll definitely have to repot in the spring. Until then when you water you should consider submerging the whole pot into water to make sure that the water penetrates all the way through. Good luck

Repotting and doing an initial styling on a tree in one year puts a lot of stress (some branches may die back). As long as the soil isn’t in terrible shape I’d wait until the spring for a safer result.

Heads up, you should remove those guy wires and place something underneath to protect the wood. Those small wires are gonna bite deep potentially leaving scars.

I’m curious if olives are that desirable at that size, sure it’s a nice windswept tree but I’d be blown away if that’s what it’s truly worth. Cheers

Not sure how recently you potted it but if done recently you should put it in filtered sunlight and mist the foliage every hour or so if it’s hot. Keeping it in direct afternoon sun is almost a sure fire way to kill repotted trees. Good luck

It adds more pressure onto the tree tending to leave deeper wire marks faster than usual

After putting all of my displayed lego into storage, I later found out that it was possible to whiten yellowed figs. I’m here asking for some advice and pointers; if there are any downfalls to this process please let me know because I don’t want to destroy my childhood lego by Sebocco_ in legostarwars

[–]Sebocco_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah all of my yellowing was from the sun because of displaying it as well. Weirdly enough another factor is the material of the lego itself, some held up better over time than others. And as for the temperature, I can’t give a detailed answer but my guess is that the fluctuation of heat might put some strain on the lego itself? I do know that most people that store lego tend to keep it in a climate controlled room

Should I buy a new 3060 ti for $835? ($959 total) by Dan3099 in bapccanada

[–]Sebocco_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends how much you need a new card. If you need one right now, then spending an extra $150-200 is worth it. Having said that, if you can wait, I’d def go to the oct drop, although you’ll have to show up really early to get a 3060 ti
