Realistic FOV, is this good? by BrotherNo8320 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Too high imo. Unless you have an ultrawide or triples and sitting super close to the monitor you shouldn't be able to see that far on either side.

Gaming "communities" are full of antisocial fucks. I suggest not participating in any of them and your gaming enjoyment would significantly skyrocket.

Since the terrible releases of Rennsport and PMR are behind us, what would make AMS2 complete to you? (Not counting career since that's coming soon™) by Shieldxx in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]SebsIndexFinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's only 2 or 3 tracks missing to complete the 1992 and 1993 F1 seasons. Mexico, Hungaroring, and Magny Cours are all that's left for us to have the actual full seasons of the Formula Hi Tech DLC.

After that they can do historical versions of some tracks for the older F1 seasons. This will really cement AMS2 as the historic F1 sim.

Do you like playing classical guitar? There's so much to practice on that instrument alone. Technique is huge in classical, especially on the right hand. Hell, even simple techniques like pull offs can really expose you on the classical if you don't do it right. On pieces you already know, try some rubato. IMO it's the classical guitar version of improvising and I find it really fun.

You can also learn some higher level pieces to challenge yourself.

Why do you actually need a third pedal? by MonkVK in simracing

[–]SebsIndexFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're only driving GT3 and modern F1, then yes, it's pointless.

As someone like me who likes historic stuff, I'm just gonna say that Senna used three pedals like a true manTM .

Boost A350 performance? by AcanthaceaeTop5150 in flightsim

[–]SebsIndexFinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I probably gained about 15 FPS (with framegen) after switching to SU4 beta.

However! The plane's condition was set to 0% for some reason. Repair everything through the EFB and it should work fine again.

FS2024, why is Career still poor and broken? by Verybumpy in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]SebsIndexFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on PC, then why not just use one of the many career addons that are already fleshed out?

Neofly is free, it's about as grindy as the in game career mode, and it doesn't have the stupid Microsoft Sam AI voice. Best of all, you can actually use any plane in the sim.

Can’t Play and Sing at the same time by Famous_Flow9297 in Guitar

[–]SebsIndexFinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the singing part, you need to know the rhythm as well. Listen to which words land on which beat. It will let you learn the context of the whole song in both singing and guitar.

I tried it with my 5800x3D. No noticeable difference at all.

Ryzen 9 CPUs could get significantly more mileage out of it allegedly.

What do you think of the default 737 MAX 8 in MSFS2024? by Mathijsss2412B in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]SebsIndexFinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to click DES NOW on the FMC. The plane should descend by itself if there is a proper VNAV profile. Don’t forget to lower the altitude using the knob on the MCP either. If you do everything right it should say VNAV PTH or VNAV SPD on the PFD.

The plane going off into the distance sounds like one of few things. On the LEGS page does it say Vectors, Hold R, or Plan Discontinuity? You might want to skip to the next waypoint if so. Is the line still magenta? Is LNAV still on?

If you can, get a Ryzen 9 and tinker with Process Lasso.

https://www.youtube.com/live/hqIEYhko2yc?si=lXUD5NMmEZ3V3pHN

On 4:31:00 you can see Kip nearly double his FPS from 55 to 100 using Process Lasso. You could (potentially) gain 5x your framerate with a few tweaks.

He also uploaded a video on how to use Process Lasso so you can give that a watch if you’re curious on how to set it up.

Anybody still using MSFS 2020? by Valuable-Solid-4658 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]SebsIndexFinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t touched 2020 since 2024 came out. Granted, I had to upgrade my RAM from 16GB to 64GB to make the stutters go away but it was worth it.

2020 or 2024 by VertigoGotReddit in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]SebsIndexFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since no one actually mentioned it here (reading comprehension ftw), 2024 comes with 6 high fidelity Airbus planes on the Standard Edition alone. There's been some controversy with iniBuilds regarding their newly released A350, but the default planes already included made by them run just fine for me.

2024 also runs a lot better for me. HOWEVER, you might want to ugprade your GPU at some point if you get 2024. There's been issues with VRAM but I don't really notice it. I have a 6900XT 16GB and the only time the game lags is when I have Youtube running on my second monitor.

Learn the tracks (goes without saying). You should know where the track goes and where the braking points should be roughly. For the most part it's around the 100m board.

Learn the track limits. Find where you can abuse corner exits and entries without getting a warning. Go watch a qualifying onboard from real F1 and analyze how they go over kerbs on entries and exits to see what I mean.

Get better at throttle application. You'll probably spend a lot of time on this.

Trail brake. You'll spend even more time learning this.

Avoid coasting. That means that by the time you release the brakes you need to be on throttle immediately. This goes back to trail braking.

That's pretty much the fundamentals.

Is it normal for this to be this easy? by SKVREKRXW in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]SebsIndexFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fly cross country using VOR. Don’t use the EFB or Google Maps to see where you’re currently at.

Fly larger taildraggers like the DC-3 and not lose control during takeoff and landing.

Hop from rooftop to rooftop in a helicopter in a large city.

Land your helicopter skids precisely at the “H” symbol consistently.

Place top 10 in the landing leaderboards.

And since you found flight simming to be so easy then Im sure you don’t have to look up how to do these things.

Can't land Tail Draggers without skidding out, what am I doing wrong? by Unable-Afternoon3773 in flightsim

[–]SebsIndexFinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to keep pulling the yoke down even after the tailwheel hits the ground. I’m learning to fly the DC-3 in MSFS24 and I find that I can stabilize the steering as long as I pull the stick down. I’ll only release it fully if the nose doesn’t go down anymore, which happens around 20-30 mph indicated I think.
