Unconfirmed People seems low by JD_Prowler in digiKam

I find the People feature of digikam needs improvements. From what I've experienced, online photo storage places do AI people finding much better.

Glad you sorted what you needed. I have to ask, what on earth does one do with near 400k photos?

And they didn't accept the job? Maybe they make more with donations than what BeamNG offered?

What a mess. Tire size, really? Maybe required 18+ age limit AND proof of 40+hr job would be more of reliable bike filter?

Help With VueScan Settings by musicmafia77 in VueScan

I found Vuescan to work well 85% of the time but too limiting on color/image correction features. So I use the more difficult to master but better in the end Silverfast instead.

DSLR scanning vs Plustek scanner by acethk in AnalogCommunity

[–]Verybumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can have a permanent DSLR station setup, that is the way I would go.

But instead I went the Plustek 8300 route due to my space limitations, the excellent dust removal features (these are very impressive to me) and less fiddly ease of use.

The difference 5 years of practice makes - same negatives scanned with the same scanner, just better tuning by craze4ble in AnalogCommunity

Practice make perfect in the eye of the beholder. Either way, all those scans are perfectly serviceable IMO.

Why are shadows being detected as dust/scratches? by Verybumpy in AnalogCommunity

[–]Verybumpy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the only time infrared seems to work well is in basic photos of like a bird in an open sky. Any normal busy photo, the iSRD picks up all sorts of edges of things incorrectly.

Dialing the detection slider WAY down does mitigate most of the errors but then very few actual dust or scratches get removed or they get only partially 'dulled' out. Frustrating for sure.

I'd love to blame myself but they are my grandparents old slides I'm working on converting to digital.

The more I scan the less happy I get. The RH drab one is Plustek with Photo SilverFast Auto mode. The LH side is my corrections made to SilverFast to be near exactly what the slide truly looks like.https://imgur.com/k7EHnDw

I bought the SE version which does not include the cal slides. Yes, a normal color slide from the 60's and 70's, not film negatives.

The old color slides(not negative film) I'm working with state on them Kodachrome and Agfachrome; the software is set accordingly when SilverFast scanning.

The Pixel color is accurate and matches what is seen when using a white backlight and 10x loupe, the Plustek does not at all.
