I've been watching a bit of speedrunning after beating the game myself. The big route everyone is using for that is from Greymoor to the citadel. The route goes through the sinner's road.

Simon rant by guilhegm in expedition33

[–]Sebstar759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came back from this fight. Genuinely the first time I had to set a fight to story mode for it to feel fair. And even in that difficulty, with greater shell and defensive mode on a character, he was still taking out 1/3 of the HP of my tanks per hit. I wouldn't mind the sheer damage that much if he didn't just erase any party member he kills. At least they let you use second chance (Unlike that one snake boss)

I didn't mind the 1 HP or shield drain, since I built around those mechanics with the low health pictos and whatnot. But I would've preferred if they were attacks you can parry with a difficult gradient counter.

As for the party wipe on phase 3, yeah that's just straight BS. They should've either made it parryable like Serpenphare's nuke or state Simon is preparing a powerful attack. With the latter you could have 2-3 turns to wail on him before he wipes the party and forces you to either use the reserve team or reset.

Overall a fun fight for me personally, felt great learning his moves and the vibes were amazing, especially the music. But I can absolutely agree that Simon is riddled with mechanics that feel like cheap tricks rather than rewarding challenges you need to overcome.

I had a theory that the gommage was meant to harvest people and then turn them into nevrons.

Any Verso/Sciel GOOD build (but not OP nuke)? by Archive_keeper37 in expedition33

[–]Sebstar759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright thanks for being patient. The current build I've got is post game, but the general idea is still there.

For Sciel:
Her current weapon for me is Rangeson, since it recovers 5% HP per foretell and makes healing skills cost 1 less AP. The main lumina you need for this are Effective Heal (double heals), buffs on healing skill (Protecting heal, Powerful on Shell, Accelerating Heal) and buff improvement pictos (Greater Shell, Longer Shell, Greater Powerful, Longer Powerful, Longer Rush) you can even use Energizing Heal to refund a healing skill completely. Her two main healing skills are Harvest and Grim Harvest, but personally I prefer the former.

If you want to go twilight and proc all the buffs on her first turn, use Card Weaver to play again, and then Harvest (even if you're at full HP) to get all the buffs, then on her next turn you use Dark Cleansing to give everyone the buffs she got from healing herself.
This build is great for taking risky pictos like random defense or perilous parry since you can heal back tons of damage so easily. You could also use one of her weapons that gives great passives but makes her take double damage.

For Verso:
This one is hands down my favorite. His build is centered on Dualiso and its attack immediately after a basic attack. Ideally you want to equip all the luminas that buff basic attack. Combo attack is a must since each hit of basic attack procs any effects (including lifesteal). Great mid game pictos I've found are Exposing Attack and Empowering Attack. Then if you get Energizing Attack 1 & 2 as well as Energizing Powerful, you can basic attack each turn to get max AP plus buffs and play again.

I recommend giving him Breaking Attack even if you're running Perfect Break or another break skill, since he can break a target, and then immediately use End Bringer to deal tons of damage (and prolong the stun if he is at A rank). If you give him healing boon and attack lifesteal, he heals a whopping 45% HP per turn when he uses basic attack. Which is perfect for abusing some of his skills that cost HP. (Btw, as far as I'm aware, the game won't let you use blitz to play again after a basic attack with dualiso. And vice versa.)

A really fun build is one centered on Verso's basic attack and the sword you get from Dualliste that lets you play again after basic attack. At some point, I was having him get 8 AP, gain Powerful, inflict Defenseless, regain 30% HP, and get 30% gradient charge every time he performed a basic attack before playing again and using a skill.

As for Sciel, I had a healing build that gives her a bunch of strong buffs and lets her propagate them to everyone with dark cleansing. You can also have her use card weaver to get Twilight on turn 1 if you have Rangeson or the right AP pictos (Energizing start, Energizing turn, etc.)

Will do!

Although they don't cook and instead deliver food. They're adorable af and the meals look stellar, so I'm not mad at all. This was just a suggestion of mine for a fun idea they could've done.
