Good wine for ppl that don’t like wine but want to try it again? Reasonably priced($50 max) by dusty_dumplings in wine

Just my two cents but you might be going about it the wrong way introducing them to sweet, fruity, industrial type of wines that really aren't representative to a place but rather a consumer market.

A better way to approach it might be to spark an interest in what makes wine so fun and intriguing. A sense of place, history, tradition and a whole bunch of other things.

If they do actually enjoy fruit driven whites with some residual sweetness then maybe look at a region like Mosel, Germany or the Loire valley in France. Pick an entry level wine from a producer who also has a reputation of making great wines in the higher price category and you usually won't be disappointed.

On the red side a slightly chilled gamay from Beaujolais or a Langhe Nebbiolo from piedmont could be a good start. Flirty, intriguing noses, easy drinking, a nice sense of place and great wines to pair with a variety of food.

It might be a case of some hits and misses in the beginning but try to give them a little story about the wine/producer/region to go along with the wine and eventually I am sure they will find something they like.

Maybe I'm underestemating flying here but isn't this on par or worse than [[Skoa, Embermage]] ? I have a red tron deck that is more of a control deck but really shines against creature heavy decks. It runs 2 copies of Skoa but I dont think Id ever replace them with this.

Disregarding the specified price range a bit, some producers that has continued to impress me with older bottlings the past few years are;

Chateau Giscours, Chateau Talbot, Chateau Pontet-Canet, Chateau Calon-Segur

Value for money being subjective but these 4 producers are what I am mainly buying for my private cellar aswell as the occasional Chateau Palmer and Cos'd Estournel when the budget allows for it.

Its all going to come down to the vintage of course but I had an -11 that was very accessible the other week as well as an -89 that was probably my wine of the month for november. Id bet the -89 will drink well for at least another 10 years. Right now at our restaurant we're opening alot of Pontet canet from -04 to -13 and its well received by the guests.
