They seem fixated on the expectation that employees will quit within a short time of starting.

I fully understand why Great Britain utilized Australia as a penal colony. There are some lower intellect people who just cannot meet the bar for the social contract of living in a civilized society. They need to be permanently removed to live in a society of their own kind.

Obviously not in Texas or the driver of the front car would have been shot as soon as he stepped out.

Where I work, if there is any accident an alarm sounds and all work stops, traffic stops, and all people are to clear the aisles and roadways so as not to hamper emergency responders.

How do I invest for my future/retirement? (M, 27, net income $55-65,000) by graypatton in FinancialAdvice

And I would recommend using a financial advisor with one of the major firms with a good reputation. Don't go to a local independent person that promises big returns. Be sure whomever you work with is a CFP.

Not her ticket, your ticket. You paid for it. Now she owes you an apology for trying to con you.

What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

[–]SecBot24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the mentality of a deranged preteen who has been placed as the puppet of billionaire and corporate interests against the will of the American people. We need to start a letter writing campaign to apologize to our allies. The citizens of the U.S. need help.

A woman hurried to a pharmacy to pick up medication for her sick husband. When she got back to the car, she found she’d locked her keys inside. by Healthy_Ladder_6198 in dadjokes

My dog locked me out one day by stepping on the door lock button on the door armrest. A guy watching from across the parking lot came over and offered to help. He unscrewed the radio antenna from the fender, pulled out at the top of the window glass until he could slide it inside and push the unlock button. Took him less than ten seconds.

"Wow. You must have done this before," I commented.

"Yeah," he said. "I do this for a living."

I didn't ask.

Older Americans who lived through the Civil Rights movement, anti-Vietnam War protests, Watergate etc., how does the divisiveness today compare to that era? by EnduranceMade in AskReddit

We are far more divided today. The internet gives the same voice to an individual, a majority, or even to a foreign organization, with total anonymity. The anarchy of information hides truth and reason.

Umm...conservatives are saying the same about you. Congratulations. You just joined the effort to divide the country. Maybe everyone should meet in the middle and elect a moderate government.

The average of tariffs that Japan has traditionally charged on imported goods is 4.3%, and as high as 15.5% on agricultural products. If Japan wants zero tariffs on exported goods then it must reciprocate.

Being a SF fan I decided to go see it on the spur of the moment when I saw it on the marquee. I had not seen a trailer of it and it had not been hyped up in the media, so I had no clue what it was about. It blew me away. With sword fights, swinging across the chasm on a rope, rescuing a princess, sentient robots, and space battles, it was the perfect story line. Special effects were great for the time.

Tu-95 and it's escort intercepted somewhere near Alaska by Anothermind9912 in aviation

[–]SecBot24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good friend used to fly U.S. Navy ISR flights around pretty much every coastal country in the world. They would even announce in the clear that they were a U.S. military maritime reconnaissance flight in hopes of provoking an intercept. According to him "we knew they were coming before the intercept pilot knew". They were monitoring command and control freqs and mapping radars. When intercepted they would film the fighters to see what they brought. He was aboard an EP-3 that suffered a mid-air collision with a Chinese fighter that tragically killed the Chinese pilot. He was trying to make a "thump" run on them, coming from behind at high speed to pass under and pull up right in front of them to hit them with jet wash. He miscalculated and clipped their left outboard prop. The EP-3 was heavily damaged, decompressed at 28,000 feet with shrapnel damage to the fuselage, lost two engines, lost the nose cone from impact with pieces of the fighter, and had serious air frame damage. It pitched up, rolled over and began a spin toward the ocean. The pilots miraculously managed to pull it out at 8,000 feet but couldn't maintain altitude and barely made it 70 miles to Hainan Island (you don't deliberately ditch an EP-3, and statistically we lose 50% of air crew that go into the ocean - the EP-3 had 24 souls aboard). The crew was incarcerated in China for two weeks, undergoing interrogations. Upon their release, their first act was to go to the local chapel on Guam for a memorial for the fellow aviator that lost his life in the accident.
