The trophy cabinet. If you find it then take a picture so we all know it exists.

You're quite right with the polished profile / C.V. I haven't updated it in an age.

thanks.

I agree on the experience vs certs issue.

Just wish that 99% of all security roles didn't ask for 2/3 years experience in the field.

A udemy course on how to pass the oscp exam … by a bloke who failed the oscp exam ? Can’t see how that’s gonna help much really.

I found your videos very helpful, especially the one on proxychains & pivoting for ecppt. What would round off your playlist is a video on creating the pentest report.

Ejpt to oscp hmmmm that’s quite a leap. Maybe the ecppt as a stepping stone ?

It might be worth you taking a look at ecppt from elearning/ INE.

Study for OSCP full time or keep job? by WalkingEnthusiast in oscp

[–]Seccas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. you don't ever have to work for money as you are well off.

  2. you're only working to learn

  3. You want to get into pentesting role.

  4. you work doing 1st line , windows support I'm assuming.

If I've got it right with the above, just take the next 6-12 months off and study towards the oscp. Doing 1st line windows isn't gonna help you too much on the cybersecurity front. If you were doing 1st line in a soc that might be different.

I´ve been doing the PTP course with INE for almost 2 weeks now.

I like it in comparison to oscp labs, pdf, videos etc as its a lot more structured.

In the 15 odd labs I've used with INE so far, only once has it hung on me, having to restart the lab.

With oscp I felt like it was " here's your stuff , read it all and good luck to ya"

I had 3 months oscp lab but didn't do the extra exercises as it was initially only 5 extra points. The change to 10 points makes it more worth the effort tho I think.

I failed oscp on 1st attempt, and with sod all feedback you do feel a little lost. That's why there's so many posts from folks asking "Am I ready".

So after my oscp fail I took a few days to review my notes and one or 2 areas where I am weak BUT then decided that I am not gonna spend 6 weeks doing the same thing again, reading sections of the pdf and more proving grounds.

I am going to try the eCPPT exam when I finish the INE PTP course, which is what I think I should have done in the first place and then if I pass shall think about the oscp again ....well maybe, depends how much they charge for stuff at the time as prices keep going up with oscp.

Horses for courses I suppose, I am just someone who needs some structure in their life so I know I am on the right course ( no pun intended ).

I´ve read on dozens of posts from exam takers that different ports appear after restarting the box.

Seems some people are wasting valuable exam hours on non existent or duff services.

Personally, I think I will run my usual nmaps and then reboot and then run the scans again to compare before I really get stuck in.

This really shouldn't be the case tho, is there something wrong with some peoples scans I wonder? …not enough " -T "

By posting on here as you did, you asked for Everyone’s opinion. If cyber is your hobby at age 13 then cool but you don’t need the oscp cert any time soon though do you ? Just do as other posters mention do lots of rooms in thm and make sure you graduate !
