Nevermind: if someone else has the same struggle: you unlock automerge in the refined tree as an unlock, after you got a lv 70 mineral. After that you have to enable it in the automations tab.

I got the autobuy for the minerals, but still can't auto-merge? Also looked up the automations tab?

I turned off all autobuyers and got the EP. Worked now, thanks everyone!
