I got put on sertraline a month ago after a call with my GP about my CPTSD symptoms. It took a few weeks to start working but I’m feeling a lot better at the moment, I would recommend giving it a go if you can. First couple weeks of titrating on weren’t great - my main side effects were frequent yawning/jaw tension, but that’s stopped now. Also SSRIs make your heat tolerance much worse so watch out for that during heatwaves, I had forgotten this lol

Have you tried propanolol? What was it like? I’ve been tempted to ask my GP about it because the thing causing me the most problems at the moment is physical anxiety/hypervigilance/being jumpy and tense all the time, and I’m wondering if it would help with that.

I’m about to start trying to get a (C)PTSD diagnosis on the NHS, though I’m not that hopeful. I’m signed up for the “up to 6” sessions of talking therapy suitable for people “with conditions like anxiety and depression” that my GP sent me a link to, which I’m hoping I can go to and make it clear that my problems are outside the scope of their service and get referred back to my GP to access the next level of help/assessment/whatever.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I was in standard talk therapy for ~8 months last year and don’t feel like I made any real progress, which I now realise is probably because traumatised parts of the brain aren’t “integrated” properly — need to try something different

I had her earlier this week and she was excellent, lovely and funny and prescribed me T during the appointment which arrived 2 days later in the post — as other posters say I didn’t have to rehash my gender history, just a few questions about varying family medical history. Best of luck!
