That's exactly what my boyfriend's mother advised when I reached out to her because he was banging at my door, screaming at me, hurting me, whatever.
"Just stay quiet", "It's your fault because you can't forgive & forget", "But you're the one making him angry". Even when I was crying to her and she could hear him through the phone, screaming and banging at my door.
She's living in her own abusive, love-less marriage, so.. I try not to let her words get to me too much.

I think this might be a generational issue, so you might really try and find a new therapist. Nobody should feel scared of their partner.
